I'm not sure about Thin Lizzy being in top ten tho.

 

I would say they merit it because they were really the main inspiration for the NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) bands. The likes of Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Judas Priest, Saxon, etc followed in their wake, not to mention all the US 80s RAWK bands like Motley Crue, Guns N Roses, etc.. tunes like "The Boys are Back In Town", "Whisky in the Jar" and "Dancing In The Moonlight" are true Metal standards which set the tone for the NWOBHM in the late 70s early 80s...

 

Actually, come to think of it, Motorhead should really be in my Top 20..... Think the Pumpkins might have to go down to #21....
