Posted March 22, 200817 yr Williams In A Dance Mood On Second Solo Disc Source: Billboard.com http://www.billboard.com/billboard/photos/art/w/williams_michelle_01l.gif Destiny's Child member Michelle Williams will unveil her second solo album, "Unexpected," in August via Music World Entertainment/Columbia. Music World Entertainment CEO Matthew Knowles played the project for Billboard.com last week and insisted, "It's a pop and dance record, but don't call it dance." But with its reliance on synth-y, driving bass samples, electronic keys and bopping drums, it's difficult not to classify the record as dance. There's a clear move away from the gospel-leaning direction of 2004's "Do You Know," which has sold 78,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. However, Knowles insists "Unexpected" isn't that much of a stretch, considering the characteristically quiet Williams spent the bulk of 2007 playing the sexy character Shug Avery in Oprah Winfrey's Chicago-based cast of "The Color Purple." "Destiny's Child fans bought Michelle's last album," said Knowles. "So now those fans are in their late 20s and early 30s. With 'Unexpected,' she'll be able to appeal to those fans and reach back to the 16-year-old audience and hit mainstream pop radio." "Unexpected" boasts production from Stargate, Rico Love, the Heavyweights, Wayne Wilkins, Andrew Frampton and SoulShock & Karl. "We Break the Dawn" is the first single, set to drop in April, while the Stargate-produced "Stop This Car" is the second. The set features pulsating beats on "Lucky Girl," where Williams uses a vocoder; "The Greatest," utilizes a martial drum pattern and a winding piano riff; the "Pump Up the Jam"-esque "Private Party;" and the Heavyweights-produced "Thank You," where Williams sings, "While you were out getting yours, boy I was getting mine / I want to thank you for the times you cheated on me." Here is the track list for "Unexpected:" "Hello Heartbreak" "We Break Tthe Dawn" "Lucky Girl" "The Greatest" "Til the End of the World" "Private Party" "Stop This Car" "Unexpected" "Thank You" "Too Young for Love" ----- Omg it sounds so good! :D I really am so excited for this whole project now. I just hope the final tracklist boasts more than 10 songs! And this writer should get her facts right; it'll be Michelle's third album. :P Edited March 31, 200817 yr by Jark
March 29, 200817 yr Author Oh my god! We Break The Dawn, the lead single from Michelle's upcoming 3rd album Unexpected, is premiering in full on Monday guys! Michelle Williams will be releasing her new album titled Unexpected this summer! The album includes her brand new single "We Break the Dawn" which will be premiering on People.com on Monday, March 31st. You can listen to the 1.30 snippet here if you haven't already heard it. 3zaApjbYS6E Definitely check out the song - it is HOT and not at all gospel, very mainstream R&B/synthy pop. It's had an amazing reaction so far from non-fans on UKmix, popjustice etc. Also a new website for Michelle has been created - see it HERE. There are loads of gorgeous and very Aaliyah-esque pics!
March 29, 200817 yr Thankyou Jarky  it is amazing!!! seriously -_- I can't explain -_- and as for Unexpected, OMG
March 30, 200817 yr I myself would have had Stop This Car as the lead single, its already a fan-fave, and Break the Dawn as single number 2. I wonder if the song featuring Missy will get a single release...that would be HUGE
March 30, 200817 yr Author WBTD has in general had a much better reaction from non-fans on forums like popjustice - it has a much wider appeal. I can't WAIT til this debuts tomorrow!
March 30, 200817 yr I seriously love the bit of 'stop this car', and this sounds amazing too :D seriously looking forward to her album and I hope its a hit for her!!

April 5, 200817 yr I could not stop listening to this today. TOO FANTASTICCCCC. Ahhh omg. I was never fond of Destiny's Child all that much, but I'm loving all their solo stuff.
April 10, 200817 yr Author Nobody seems to know. I think putting it on iTunes in the US this Monday is far too early though; so stupid! :( I just hope they don't miss this up like they messed up Like This.
April 11, 200817 yr It seems to me that Michelle's stuff is going to be much better handled than Kelly's. Aside from great songs, great lyrics, great production, great new look, she said she would be shooting video in two weeks. So they should be shooting video this or next week. And her broadway stuff is coming to an end about now as well. So, as long as she starts doing promo soon and the video is made available soon as well, this can be real big (Remember, she is releasing two singles before the album release in August, most likely to ensure that the album has a high debut - and I guess that if the singles' don't do well, the album will be reworked for release).
