as we all know the charts in the USA are based on sales as well as airplay

but i thought WHAT IF THE UK CHARTS WERE LIKE THIS

as a result i've found the airplay and sales charts for each week in 2008 and i've used a scoring system to put them together to get the estimated uk Billboard chart

if anyone would like me to post them i've got up to the 9th of march so far

Have you done it to a 60:40 ratio. Airplay:Sales. That's what the US system does...

actually i've done it to a 50:50 ratio meaning that airplay and sales are equal to each other as i think that is what the charts should be like

i've posted the top 10 allready and i'll post the bottom end of the top 40 in a minute

I disagree *absolutely* with the notion of using airplay - would you want the charts to be dependant on the preferences of a few dozen DJ's, rather than tens of thousands of ordinary music fans?

Yep, I totally agree.

If they really must include airplay in the charts then it should be no more than a 25% ratio IMO. -_-

HIT40uk, is 50/50 until you get to the top 10. Although the airplay is constant to ILR playlists. That is our equivalent to the Yanks. There is 10% airplay on the mrib chart.
