Posted March 23, 200817 yr Clint Eastwood's Gran Torino, which was announced yesterday, may be a sequel in the Harry Callahan series, reports say. Eastwood played rogue San Francisco cop Harry Callahan in five films, starting with 1971's Dirty Harry. He last played the character 20 years ago in The Dead Pool. Callahan's "Do I feel lucky?" monologue is often quoted and parodied in popular culture. Ain't It Cool News reports that producers have been trying to buy a 1972 Ford Gran Torino for the Warner Bros movie. The plot is alleged to revolve around the retired Callahan seeking to track down the killer of two young police officers, one of whom is his grandson. The only thing known about the murderer is that he drives a Ford Torino. Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis and Harrison Ford have all recently returned to franchises they made popular in previous decades. March 24, 200817 yr 77 is just too old, end of  Although I think Clint is one of the best actors ever, at this stage in his career he should stick to directing which he does brilliantly.
March 26, 200817 yr If its true, do you think Clint is a bit too old to bring back Harry Callahan? In a word, yes..... But I suppose it depends on how it's done... If the film concentrates more on the investigation, and has a look of 'realism' about it, then it might work, if they try to merely do "Dirty Harry 6" (or whatever number we're up to now...), then it'll die on its arse (as Clint might actually himself do if he's required to do too many intensive action sequences)..... There have been a few good films made about retired coppers, played by more veteran actors, investigating that "one last case" (Jack Nicholson did a pretty good one a few years back - "The Pledge", which was all but ignored...).
March 26, 200817 yr God, hope not It would be embarrassing beyond belief to see a man who is nearly 80 years old strutting around with a 44 Magnum Sure Bruce, Sly, Ford etc have made follow ups but they are 20 years younger than Clint

If the film accounted for Harry's age and his limitations, and concentrated more on how society and "the job" has changed and didn't try to make him out to be some kind of "supercop", then it could actually work.. It couldn't just be "Dirty Harry 6" though, it would have to be a much more thought-provoking film, more low-key, not a silly, pointless action film... Certainly a LOT more thought-provoking than the two lame, dumb-ass come-backs to the action fray from Sly and Bruce which came out in the past year.....
March 27, 200817 yr Author Can just picture the scene of Clint trying to sell the idea to the film makers, " To tell you the truth I don't know if it's the 4th or 5th sequel, in all this confusion of getting old, anyway PUNK, go ahead make my movie"
