April 19, 200817 yr Firstly Jodie, ok-ish... but there is something she lacks and I can't spot it, she might slip one week Samantha, so far is the best performance on the night, her version of Fighter really moved me Ashley was all over the place, and dropped a couple of notes, I didn't like her performance, I hope Ashley or Keisha goes this week. Niamh I still think she is too young to be Nancy, but has a lovely voice, surely a record contract is suited for her. Keisha's performance just ruined a classic, that was awful. Jessie is Nancy, the pitch in her voice is perfect and hits thge perfect notes each time, and very consistant each week. Sarah very ropey, did nothing for me. Franesca seems to be improving each week, again not her best performance, she can do better. Finally, Rachel again she is very consistant like Jessie, for me that was the best performance of the night, Jessie has got a fight on her hands =========== Andrew Lloyd Webber looks a bit pi$$ed, or just woken up, I wish Barry criticises, instead of liking every performance, a right dill
April 20, 200817 yr Author It was still a bit of a slap in the face for Ashley. After the downright rudeness of "I don't rate your voice" (how is that constructive?! and why did ALW or CM even allow her a final 12 placement if he doesn't rate her?) that farce of pretty much saying "I hate you but the panel so I might as well keep you" was still a let down for her. I think the only thing Ashley lacks is a warmth that I get from Sarah - the voice is there, but hardly shown off by the worst arrangement of I Wanna Dance With Somebody known to man!! I miss Fran from the competition already, I look forward to good things from her.
April 20, 200817 yr Author Ashely's saving was a stalling tac-tic by The Lord I think. He's counting on her being in the bottom two again up against someone he wants to save, so he can get rid of Ashely against Jessie/Rachel/Keisha(?)
April 20, 200817 yr I can't see Rachel or Jessie been in the bottom 2, they are the 2 strongest acts in my book.
April 20, 200817 yr Author I can't see Rachel or Jessie been in the bottom 2, they are the 2 strongest acts in my book. I wouldn't be so sure. Rachel is ALW's safe choice, but draws a blank for a lot of people on her acting. Personally I find her performances insincere and false now, I'm not sure how much longer people will accept being told by the panel that she's "fantastic fantastic fantastic" and start to make their minds up for themselves. That said, people could follow them and she could go on to win, which I'm certain ALW and CM would love - she's definitely capable, but not the best choice. As for Jessie - her star could fall very fast if she's not careful. This weeks song was filler after a great performance - if she drops the ball another week people will lose interest. She's been put on a pedestal with great comments, and now there's nowhere for her to go, people love the 'journey' Sarah is going on (just as they loved Darren Gough and MattDiAngelo's Strictly improvement story), and love seeing Keisha grow (examplified by her not being in the bottom 2 this week). Jessie has to give amazing performances 110% from now on, or she'll be seen to be not improving or she'll lose popularity. Being given such good comments so early on leaves her little room for growth - and people could tire of her consistency, even if it is amazing consistency! I want her to do well, though, so she should be careful. (I might as well do some of the others I've got opinions on now I've got going! lol!) Niamh - A nice voice, but I think she just has such a small range, she's so unsuitable for this part, and wouldn't make a great pop star either, since she lacks some charisma at the moment. Also, I'd like to see her act her songs more. So far, she's had fairly nice ballads (save I've Got The Music In Me...) which are easy to sing, but hasn't acted her songs at all, yet Ashley and some others get hugely criticised for not performing enough. Jodie - I really like her a lot - she's not given a bad performance yet, and her Send In The Clowns was a great performance of a deceptively simple sounding song!! Ashley - I like her too, but she's getting no help from ALW. I won't go into my rant about what he said/did this week, but suffice to say that she's one of the more competent girls who could handle this role, if there was more warmth coming from her. Samantha - I just think is not much use at all. I don't think she really cares that much about being Nancy, but instead just wants to get her name out there, and her performances except I Love Rock and Roll have been average. The endings of Somewhere and See The Day were great, but the first half of them let them down so much, and this week was just awful - completely out of tune because she let the acting take her over and she lost control of her vocals. And I just love love love Sarah! She's the star of this show, and I hope she gets to the final and comes 2nd so that she can get a better role than Nancy, which is a kinda small role in all honesty. April 21, 200817 yr Niamh I still think she is too young to be Nancy, but has a lovely voice, surely a record contract is suited for her. You do realise that Nancy is a teenager in the book, so how can she be too young?
April 21, 200817 yr Author You do realise that Nancy is a teenager in the book, so how can she be too young? Because with youth comes immaturity in terms of performance. I don't believe for one second that Niamh has suffered one millionth of the heartbreak Nancy is supposed to, and it shows in her acting. Not that we've seen any - she hasn't acted her performances at all, instead choosing to stand there looking pretty.
April 21, 200817 yr But she is meant to be an actress and so she can act like she has all the heartbreak and all that shizz.
April 21, 200817 yr Author But she is meant to be an actress and so she can act like she has all the heartbreak and all that shizz. That's exactly my point. We haven't seen ANY evidence of her being able to act. You say "she can act like she has all the heartbreak" - I've yet to see her actually DO it?
April 21, 200817 yr Francescas final performance was amazing, but she had a bit of a weird voice, don't think she was quite right for Nancy, but she has talent!
April 22, 200817 yr That's exactly my point. We haven't seen ANY evidence of her being able to act. You say "she can act like she has all the heartbreak" - I've yet to see her actually DO it? I would disagree, there is only so much you can do with a song without it becoming OTT.
April 22, 200817 yr Author I would disagree, there is only so much you can do with a song without it becoming OTT. But she hasn't even tried to do anything, never mind "so much"! She just stands there! If I paid £60 to see Oliver and throughout As Long As He Needs Me Nancy just stood in a corner, I'd be demanding my money back. Sarah, Jessie and Jodie at the least all manage to give effective performances without being OTT, so why can't Nimah?
April 26, 200817 yr Keisha and Ashley will be in the sing off tomorrow, hopefully Ashley goes, I know what Andrew is doing, if one of the best acts are in the bottom 2 for example Jessie along with Ashley, he will save Jessie. Best performances tonight are Rachel, Jessie, Samantha, that was a belter from Samantha, and showed her voice and Jodie, her best performance to date Sarah is beginning to waver a bit, and Niamh I can see her struggling later in the competition when the best acts are left.
April 26, 200817 yr Author I just can't believe how different our opinions are, Martin  Rachel and Samantha were just some of the worst singing I've seen on the live shows of a TV talent show. They just screamed (except the parts that Sam saw fit to simply SPEAK?!), and were just shells of actresses. What the hell was that running-across-the-stage-with-her-hand-out that Rachel subjected us to?! Just awful. I enjoyed Jessie's, although it's gone down like a lead-balloon elsewhere. But, I'm not convinced she's ready for this yet. She could really benefit from some training, and if she wins this part she may never get to do that, and it could do her some huge favours. Sarah and Jodie gave completely outstanding performances on both parts. Both are consistently great, and are the only ones in the competition I'd pay to see so far. I might go see Jessie if she sorted her movement out. Keisha and Ashley are great, too - but aren't panel-pet's so won't last much longer sadly, even though they consistently give good vocal performances (especially tonight compared to the out-of-tune disasters of Rachel and Samantha. JB and DVO have no credibility for me anymore after criticising Ashley's tuning then telling Samantha she was superb.) Like Jessie, I think Sam and Niamh have potential to be amazing. But they aren't yet, they just aren't. Edited April 26, 200817 yr by Andrewy
April 26, 200817 yr I still think Jessie, Rachel and Samantha are going to be in the final 3 in the final for some reason, it seems ALW is hen-pecking them all the time.
