March 24, 200817 yr Sad news :( I didn't know much about him, but I found out this ;) Returning from their anniversary trip to New Orleans, John and his wife Ruth saw the crowds and cars parked on her parents’ front yard near Graceland. John sighed, “Elvis must be dead, gotta go to work. Bye.” John’s role in giving the go-ahead to the late, indomitable, and droll reporter Beth Tamke to publish the results of the Presley death certificate is quoted in Jim Cole and Charles Crawford’s book on The Death of Elvis and was revisited in 1991 by Memphis Magazine. That act began in earnest the tug-of-war over the role of drugs, city image and official territorial turf disputes in the Elvis saga.
