On Tuesday morning at 2.30 am, no less than 50 plods were dispatched to Parliament Square to confiscate the banners of internationally respected Peace Activist Brian Haw under the caveat of the Govts quasi-fascistic "Organised Crime and Terror" bill

...Yet in the streets of Camden and Holloway road I can be hassled by dope peddlers, illegal dvd sellers and dodgy fag vendors who actually are contributing to organised crime and the funding of terrorism (if the Govt posters and film adverts are to be taken at face value...), yet absolutely sod all seems to be done about this, it's more or less the same faces every bloody day in the same 'pitches', cop cars go up and down Camden High St and Holloway Road constantly, so when exactly are the Plods gonna do their fukkin' job and clear the streets of this 'criminal scum'....? Or are they waiting for the dictats from the Home Sec.....?

what... you mean GET OUT of their cars and get their hands dirty with REAL villains?

Oh please... this is the UK police farce we're talking about here. They're FAR too busy loitering in lay-bys trying to catch motorists with a rear light out or who are going 3 m/p/h too fast.

Glorified paper shufflers, the whole sorry lot of them.

You get some right 'boy racers' though tearing up them motorways, but yeah, I get your general drift. A lot of the time this emphasis on speeding and parking violations does somewhat smack of cash-cow for the local authorities...

The problem is not the police themselves but the government and the regulations and paperwork imposed on police officers

To make ONE arrest an officer has to fill in EIGHT different forms and for petty offenders like DVD peddlers and Delboy type people it is really not worth the paperwork, far better for me that manpower is spent tracking terrorists, rapists, murderers, downloaders of child porn etc than taking Delboy down to the station and filling in 8 forms only to see him released with a caution

In terms of motorists that is an entirely seperate division of the police, beat officers and CID don't chase motorists that is done by dedicated traffic cops same way as dog handlers, police doctors etc don't do regular policing

The problem lies with the government, the police on the beat and CID are under staffed and are up to their nose in paperwork

Yeah like I said, thats a government thing, the order to deal with that poor man would have come from the very highest authority, maybe even from Tony Blair himself so I think the ordinary officers' hands were tied
