March 29, 200817 yr My Comments on This Week Chart ;) Another week and still no changes at the top of the German chart as the cute Schnuffel remains king for a six consecutive week. Even there are no many new songs in the top 10 as some old hits (Timbaland and Ich + Ich) are refusing to go away and manage to climb once again. The hopes for No Angels attacking the rabbit have also disappeared as the song falls 4-14. I guess that the girls will hang around for awhile as the Eurovision contest is still weeks away. The highest new entry this week belongs to OneRepublic, whose first proper "solo" single, enters the chart at the quite respectable #7. At first when hearing "Stop and stare" I thought that without Timbaland the guys would fail miserably. However, after repeat listening the song has so grown on me that it is one of my favourite tracks at the moment. So congratulations boys! For those not remembering "Apologize" was a number one hit for eight weeks. Great also to see the amazing Yael climbing into the top 10. Here's what an advertising can do... #15 Moby - "Disco Lies" Quite unexpected new entry for me. "Disco Lies" is the first single from Moby's latest album "Last Night" to be released in Germany. A wonderful song with a great video and some retro feeling reminding me of the 90s. Moby's biggest hit in Germany is the magnificent "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad" peaking at #3. #16 Befour - "Live Your Dream" The consistency at which the two boys and two girls manage to make top 30 hits is astonishing. This is their five single for less than a year and the first to be taken from the forthcoming "We stand united" album. The produced by the Super RTL TV channel group is quite popular among children and not surprisingly the song is featured in the local version of the soundrack of "Horton Hears A Who". #34 Amy McDonald - "Mr Rock N Roll" - Like Moby, another surprising new entry here. A great song, nevertheless. Good to see Amy crossing the UK borders. #79 Martin Stosch - This is the second and perhaps last single of the runner-up of the last year's German version of Music Idol (DSDS). Martin's first single peaked at #30 and fell out of the chart after only a month. #86 Empty Trash - "Garden Of Growing Hearts" is the second single of the Berlin rock band. Despite the participation of their vocalist in DSDS, the guys are struggling to make a breakthrough. Their debut "Limited" peaked at 47, remaining for five weeks in the top 100. To sum it up - Some great new entries this week, an annoying number one, and Amy is queen once again with #1 in the albums and three songs in the top 30. Oh, and Dj Oetzi going down and down. The 20 places jump of Wir3 is however a bit disturbing though... During the next week I'll try to post some more statistics on Moby and Befour. Be patient ;)
