July 13, 200817 yr 'Reviews' - no more nor less than would be expected from journos at an 'indie' festival - but the punters tell a different story - ANOTHER triumph for the might Will Young. From the Scottish Sunday Post - this tells it like it was  - Thanks to Diz on D. Original pop idol Will Young proved the critics wrong as he played a short set to a packed Pet Sounds Arena. http://www.sundaypost.com/Images/12egjspTparkYoung1.jpg Their opinion on his music is just that and in the big scheme of things means sod all  Thanks to Lali on D. Sunday Mail http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v337/lalilovestruck/Will%20-%20T%20in%20the%20Park%20120708/SundayMailT1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v337/lalilovestruck/Will%20-%20T%20in%20the%20Park%20120708/SundayMailT2.jpg I was watching the festival last night and Lightspeed Champion was on doing an acoustic set offstage. He was bloody awful. Could NOT sing - and I mean that totally - flat - tone-deaf - and just strummed his guitar to accompany himself. No wonder they booed him. And he was put on AFTER Will - Each to his own eh :P Sunday Post http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v337/lalilovestruck/Will%20-%20T%20in%20the%20Park%20120708/SundayPost1.jpg Sunday Mail - Once again - just their opinion :P PET SOUNDS ARENA WILL YOUNG While remaining a somewhat unusual choice for T In The Park, Will Young packed the arena with screaming fans. His Scottish-themed set included The Bonnie Banks O' Loch Lomond, The Proclaimers' 500 Miles and even saw him attempt a highland fling. But the biggest cheer was reserved for the moment his dangerously-skinny jeans fell down mid-song. The majority of his set comprised of a procession of pop also-rans but his infectious enthusiasm made the experience more than bearable. http://www.sundaymail.co.uk/lifestyle/life...78057-20641562/ By Chitra Ramaswamy AM I in the right place? I've checked my programme at least a dozen times and it tells me that, yes, Will Young, former Pop Idol winner and housewife's choice of the nation, is about to walk on stage. So, what's with the warm-up tune that sounds like it's more fit for the terraces than for this soft soul crooner? There is no mistaking him when he does arrive, however, mostly because of the deafening high pitched screams filling the tent. He's in defiant mode, too, which suits him. Dressed down in an untucked shirt, sleeves rolled up nonchalantly, Young is here to prove his detractors wrong. Last week people complained that he isn't credible enough to be on the bill but he's having none of it. Young is canny and knows how to win over the crowd. By singing Loch Lomond. Twice. It works a treat, and if there was room this bunch would lie down like obedient seal pups on the bonnie, bonnie banks and have him tickle their tummies. The songs are inoffensive and his voice is clear and soulful. But it's his chat that makes people go crazy. "Thank you so much for turning up," he purrs. "You're the best crowd. It's my first festival in Scotland and I want to do lots more because you're great." Flattery - works every time. http://living.scotsman.com/tinthepark/T-in...Will.4260622.jp (With thanks to rosj on D) Erm - I believe it's known as "working the crowd" and it's what it's all about. Doh!!! On the whole not a bad bunch - about par for the course. Shame they couldn't find anything really nasty to write - they must be spitting feathers  Comment from Lali I had a quick scan through some of the other papers but there didn't appear to be anything but really I didn't expect much considering Will was playing one of the lesser stages and there were some great Scottish Bands playing yesterday Edited July 13, 200817 yr by munchkin
July 13, 200817 yr Author Thanks for bringing the reviews across munchkin. They would have loved to have slated but given the reception he received from a packed tent (not his fans) they couldn't. :cheer: Loved reading that the guy that followed was booed for having a dig art Will, well from those that were left anyway. One of the girls reported back that the tent emptied by about 80% after Will's set.  Bet he was well narked.
