You are so not destroying this track. :D

T-Rex - New York City (1975 UK#15)

As any casual fan of the Marc Bolanster would know it's lyrics are about his backing singer & future wife Gloria Jones (famous for the original Tainted Love) buying a Kermit the Frog toy for the imminent birth of their child to be Rolan.

Hence the Benny Hill like innuendo of the lyric "I did don't you know & don't it show......." in reference to the fact she was carrying his child.

.... The fact that he was drinking heavily and had unhealthy consumption of Cocaine at the time might go some way to explain the rather lazy lyrics, although personally it is the best (of a bad bunch) of singles he released post The Groover (1973) and prior to his much improved material from his final album Dandy In The Underworld (1977), which by no coincidence was the first album he released post getting his act together (according to a biography I'd bought of his by Mark Paytress he had stopped consuming drugs after a mild heart-attack (early 1976) & had stopped drinking Cognac and only had wine occasionally when going out for meals and was actually on a fitness regime given to him by Kevin Keegan of all people!)

T Rex - Dandy In The Underworld (1977)

up yours m8!

its terrible!

If you are going to put a Marc Bolan song in here from his fat Elvis period then what about:

No it's certainly not his worst when compared with the likes of Truck On Tyke, Light Of Love and worst of the lot:

T-Rex - Zip Gun Boogie (1974 UK#41)

Have you ever seen anyone do the low slung

boogie

Oh no, oh no

Have you ever seen anyone do the low slung

Oh no, oh no

The zip gun boogie's comin' down to get ya,

Have you ever seen anyone do the back street

lol.. between us we are really dissing marc bolan!

i dont like him, i never did... but i like 20th centuary boy and 'truck on tyke' was ok...

Leave it out - pudgy Marc was still infinitely preferable to a hell of a lot of music released just prior to punk. And he was never known to be a fabulous lyricist anyway. You could probably take most of his lyrics and rip them apart - wasn't the point!
