Not sure which of these 3 to use.... and do you think it's ok minus any text? I think she's iconic enough to merit a text-less cover....

Any suggestions gratefully received

I like the middle one, not to much heavy colour as the first, but still able to stand out against the last one.

the middle one too russt :cheer:

Thks Pavel! ^_^

And Russt, I prefer the one from the middle, your work is beautiful  but I can't imagine a cover without track and artist mention. ;)

Why not?

I think generally covers need some text, be it just an artist name. It often looks too obviously fan made without one.

That's a good reason for me. :)

I have never seen one of these competitions where a cover doesn't look fanmade - they always do. The effects, the fonts etc. They are never going to anything more. I just don't understand why they all must have lettering, or why they all must feature the artist etc. I prefer the artistic ones, and if someone can capture the song through image, without the need of wording - then thats brilliant. I say this with lettering on mine this week, but whenever I leave it out I get no votes. :P

Well that is the other reason. People don't vote for covers without lettering so it's beneficial to include it. :P

And of course they can look artistic but you can make them arty with letters. A lot of my covers personally rely on the use of letting and intertwining it with layers or using text effects to enhance the cover the best I can.

(Not Thom's real body btw!)

Hi all and thanks for the comments - I think covers minus lettering a great as long as the artist is an icon a legend - or if you're, say New Order, who always have stunning artweork, rarely with their name on.

But I decided to add some text - here's the final one...

I agree with you but its true that at least you need to add the lettering ...the image its built by your own creativity  ...remember that the fonts sometimes can be artistic too...its important to choose the right one...goodvibes to u and dont worry i prefer the artistic ones too. :teresa:
