Why has Sophie never tried to make it big in the US?

She is a great singer and her songs have real potential to cross over into US pop success..

She is far too dance-pop to ever really achieve success in the US imo, perhaps beyond one hit single.

I'd disagree...Murder on the Dancefloor could easily make US success, and with some top-notch producers I'm sure she could easily make slightly more US-friendly versions of her UK releases...
She can't make it in the UK anymore and we fully embrace her sort of sound. US really is a completely lost cause.

I'd agree with that. She was brill on tour (and I wasn't into her stuff before). But like TT - she is an entirely British phenomenon and doesn't work outside of the UK - apart from a few European stops. It really wouldn't be worth the effort - the US is a massive nut to crack unless you're willing to put more than 100% commitment into it. And even then, if you don't have the massive financial backing it could still all turn to dust. I'm not sure that she'd want to do that - she has a family too now which would have a bearing on any decision she'd make.

Besides - the US isn't the 'be all and end all' of music. Looking at the US chart at the moment - its a bit pants to say the least.

I'm surprised she didn't have a little attempt when 'Murder On The Dancefloor' was big in pretty much every country but the US, I think at the time she could have at least got onto the Billboard chart with it.

But I agree with what some people have said, I'd rather she tried to reclaim success in the areas she was successful before than try to crack the US.

she does have many fans in the US - who got into her from Murder on the dancefloor but the US charts dont have that kinda songs in them...
She'd be another Robbie Williams. So what's the point in wasting funds on a lost cause.
I dont think shed have sucsess over there and anyway as someone else said the US isnt everything. Most of the songs in their chart are a complete waste of space.
