Posted March 31, 200817 yr Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows is working on a solo album for a Winchester-based charity. A spokesperson for Razorlight could not confirm which charity Burrows' album will be benefiting, but NME.COM understands the record is nearly completed and will be released later this year. Razorlight hit Number One in 2006 with 'America', a track co-written by Burrows ..I cacked myself when I first read the headline :heehee: But as long as it's for a good cause, all is well. Wonder what his stuff will sound like, as I quite liked the cover of 'With A Little Help' where Burrows sang the vocals
April 10, 200817 yr Andy Burrows' debut solo album will be released next month Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows has released the full details of his forthcoming debut solo album. Proceeds from 'The Colour Of My Dreams', released on May 26, will go to the Naomi House Jack's Place appeal, a Winchester-based children's charity. The album features Burrows singing poems written by friend and poet Peter Dixon, and clocks in at under 20 minutes. It was recorded at Burrows' home in summer 2007. "'Andy Burrows goes solo!'" joked the Razorlight man to NME.COM. "I was in sweats after hearing that for the first time. I'd say it's a mini cute little record." For the first solo album interview with Burrows, see the new issue of NME, on sale now. http://www.nme.com/news/razorlight/35773
April 10, 200817 yr Razorlight man to go solo...... and it isn't Johnny Andy Burrows gives us the lowdown on "cute" charity album Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows is releasing an acoustic album next month and has given NME his first interview as a "solo artist". "The Colour Of My Dreams" is due out on May 26 and features the drummer singing poems written by a family friend. Proceeds from the album will go to Winchester children's hospice, Naomi House. "Andy Burrows goes solo!" laughs the sticksman. "I was in sweats after hearing that for the first time. It is a record by me, but it doesn't even last 20 minutes. The shortest song is 40 seconds, the longest just under two! It was never even intended to be a record - there's a reason I chose to play the drums, I'm not comfortable being out on my own. I guess technically it is my own solo record but I'd say it's a mini cute record." The album was recorded at Burrows' home last summer as he learnt to use computer recording programmes and was not initially intended for release. "I'm pretty c**p on a computer but I thought recording on one would be useful for Razorlight as me and Johnny [borrell] pass ideas to each other," he explains. "So i learnt and started writing songs, I'm not really a lyricist. I've dabbled, but there's a poet from back home called Peter Dixon. I've known him all my life, he's my little brother's godfather and he's an amazing character. It's quite charming stuff, so it was a fun thing to write music to his words." Burrows decided to make it a charity record after visiting the hospice where his older brother works. "I took a trip down there and played drums with the terminally ill kids," he recalls. "It's an incredible place. It really affected me." Burrows describes the record as the musical equivalent of notebook scribbles, adding: "The whole thing is 17 minutes long: either it's the longest single in the world or the shortest album! But I am really pleased with it. It's very organic. It's like one of those organic delivery boxes where you never know what you're going to get. A carrot with an eye, a parsnip with three ears? That's what this record is like (laughs)." The rest of Razorlight have backed their drummer's "solo" efforts and he hopes to recruit "one or all three of them" for a one-off gig in May, which will also feature some more of Burrows' friends performing. For now, though, it's back to the day job. "I've been working on ideas, Johnny's been up in Scotland sending me ideas over the phone and Carl [Dalemo, bassist] has been working on some stuff," he explains. "We've done a bit of recording and we've got a new rehearsal space. We're all really excited about this one as a four. We start again next week and we're recording all over the summer. Personally, I really hope it's out this year!" Credit - NME Magazine

April 16, 200817 yr Author Ooooh intersting. :o It will be good to hear some of his own stuff without Johnny, sounds like it could be good. ^_^ Yeah, agreed. And the fact it's all been done on his own with his own influences and editing programmes etc makes it all the more intruiging. Plus it's for charity which is always a good thing ^_^
