April 3, 200817 yr Author 20 http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1748588.JPG Pipettes - 'We Are the Pipettes' I first heard about the Pipettes when 'Pull Shapes' was released, and was immediately impressed. I listened to their album $h!tloads of times on the way to school in early 2007, and had I done this list this time last year they would've probably been #1! As it is though, I've not played it in ages so they'l have to settle for #20. Not bad though at all. :D Stand-out tracks *We Are the Pipettes *Pull Shapes *Dirty Mind *One Night Stand *I Love You

April 3, 200817 yr Author 19 http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/4766206.JPG Mike Oldfield - 'Music of the Spheres' The newest album in my top 50 arrives at #19 from the legendary Mike Oldfield. :D It's his first of two appearances in my chart, and this album really is quality. It was only released a couple of weeks ago, but leaked onto the internet about four months ago. The first single, 'Spheres' that has samples from a couple of tracks on here is currently riding high at #1 in my chart. Stand-out tracks *Harbinger *Shabda *On My Heart *Aurora *Harmonia Mundi *Musica Universalis
April 3, 200817 yr Author 18 http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/7567932092.JPG Jewel - '0304' Gooddelta actually got me to download this album, and I was mightily glad I did! Amazing album from the infectuous Jewel this is! Some tracks on here are absolute stunners and should've been so big in the UK, but only 'Intuition' made the top 40 I think, and there are far better tracks on here. :( First of two albums for Jewel in my chart too. ^_^ Stand-out tracks *Stand *Run 2 U *Leave the Lights On *Two Become One *Yes U Can *U + Me = Love
April 3, 200817 yr Author 17 http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/74321961252.JPG Christina Aguilera - 'Stripped' Ohh what an album. This was quite possibly my album of 2003 here, and I listened to it SO much. I seem to remember it never got to #1 though, but re-entered the top ten about 50 times! So many potential singles here, shame the follow-up failed to match it. Stand-out tracks *Walk Away *Fighter *Infatuation *Beautiful *Cruz *Soar *The Voice Within *I'm OK
April 3, 200817 yr Author 16 http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/9031755722.JPG Enya - 'Shepherd Moons' This is such a good album. I have to say I'm quite surprised it isn't top ten, five, three, two, even #1! Well... I can kinda see why - a few average sort of songs by Enya standards for me, which is a shame. This was Enya's sole #1 album in the UK and spawned top ten singles 'Caribbean Blue' and 'Book of Days'. Enya's fourth showing in my chart, which means three will be in the top 15. Certainly the most out of any artist here. ^_^ Stand-out tracks *Caribbean Blue *How Can I Keep from Singing *Book of Days *Afer Ventus *Smaointe
April 3, 200817 yr Author Amazing album, they are better than The Revelations too, slightly more polished and better singers...I saw them live once and they were just  It's certainly a toughie between the two! The Pipettes definately have the better voices though I must say. The Revelations' performance of 'It's You' just didn't cut it really did it?
April 3, 200817 yr Author 15 http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/0630128792.JPG Enya - 'The Memory of Trees' This was the first album that got me into Enya, way back in 1995! :o So why hasn't it made the top ten? Well... so many good songs on here, there really are, just one or two songs that are a bit average which affected its position in my chart. Enya still has two albums to come though, so there's no room for complacency at all. :D Stand-out tracks *The Memory of Trees *Anywhere Is *China Roses *Hope Has a Place *On My Way Home
April 3, 200817 yr Author 14 http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/9819297.JPG Abba - 'Gold' There can't be a single Briton who doesn't own this, can there?! This album quite simply is a "must have" in one's music collection. It's sold something ridiculous like 100 million worldwide, and it's hardly surprising given the success and amazingness of this Swedish outfit. :D I actually own the 25th anniversairy edition (since they won the Eurovision in 1974) with engraved signatures on it. The above picture is the 30th anniversairy edition from 2004. Stand-out tracks *Dancing Queen *Knowing Me, Knowing You *Take a Chance on Me *Lay Al Your Love on Me *The Winner Takes It All *SOS *Chiquitita *Waterloo
April 3, 200817 yr Excellent thread David - good variety. I will comment on the full list at the end :D
April 3, 200817 yr Author 13 http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/3941712.JPG Songbirds - 'Wake Up Call' A surprising entry here at #13, with the relaxation of the Songbirds flying in. This is a lovely album which is great to listen to when you're feeling all dreamy or just want a relaxing listen to something. I've not actually listened to it a great deal, so to get to #13 on a limited number of plays is quite, quite excellent. :D Stand-out tracks *The Weatherman (No Wonder I Feel Blue) *Lazy Sunday Morning *Wake Up Call *The Only Thing I'm Guilty Of (Is Loving You) *Got My Hopes Up
April 3, 200817 yr Author 12 http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/PRERELCDLEO.JPG Leona Lewis - 'Spirit' From the very first time we heard this shy, young girl on 'The X Factor' late in 2006, we all knew she had potential to be the star that she is today. A fairly average first single was followed up by the absolutely immense 'Bleeding Love' almost a year after her victory on the ITV1 show, and what followed in this album certainly matched up. This album has its fair share of ballads, but Ms Lewis also demonstrates her ability to sing more R&B type songs with the excellent 'Take a Bow' and 'Whatever It Takes'. Deservedly at #12 for Leona! :D Stand-out tracks *Bleeding Love *Whatever It Takes *Yesterday *Take a Bow *I Will Be *Angel *Footprints in the Sand

April 3, 200817 yr Aww bless you Jonny owning a Steps album. (sm) Good selection of others though. ^_^ Don't 'bless' me. :drama: I actually quite like(d) Steps. :o
April 3, 200817 yr Author 11 http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/CDV2812.JPG Spice Girls - 'Spice' Just missing out on the top ten is the debut album and second offering in my chart from the Spice Girls. The only weak link in this album is 'Mama' in my opinion, and my dislike of that song plumetted this record down to #11. It would quite possibly had been in the top three had there been a better song in its place! Aside from that though, this is an absolutely excellent album. We'll never get music like this ever again, so we should treasure such pop excellence! :D Stand-out tracks *Wannabe *Say You'll Be There *Two Become One *Last Time Lover *Who Do You Think You Are
April 3, 200817 yr Author Excellent thread David - good variety. I will comment on the full list at the end :D I bought this from a charity shop for £1.50 about 3 weeks ago :o Thank you Jestie. :D And more Enya charity shop buying eh? :o Do you like it? :kink: Don't 'bless' me. :drama: I actually quite like(d) Steps. :o *Blesses Jonny* I am a priest you know. :drink: And Steps were pretty good back in their day. :(

April 3, 200817 yr Author Yes, I do, its most relaxing - Anywhere Is has always been a fave of mine anyway :P And bless me too, as I also like Steps :( Steps were amazing. :( Their first two albums are pretty bad though listening back! 'Buzz' is definately the superior. ^_^
April 3, 200817 yr Steps were amazing. :( Their first two albums are pretty bad though listening back! 'Buzz' is definately the superior. ^_^ Buzz has Summer Of Love and You'll Be Sorry on which, imo, are Steps best songs, so you are quite right :P
