I took a cooking class when I was in school...in the line of sweet stuff, we made milkshakes, muffins, pancakes, Quick Breads, cookies, rock candy...

No wonder you're so sweet..... :P :P

There's an ice cream chain here in the US, called Dairy Queen....I stopped at one near me the other day, just for a large soft serve cone, dipped in chocolate....

I HAVEAND ITS OK NOT NEARLY AS GOOD AS WHIPPED ice cram and flake

i casn go through a tub in one day of the stuff :D

Does anyone have a super-fantastic recipe for Vegetable Curry? I've made one tonight and its OK - but there's just something 'missing'.

To be honest, I've never made any curry of any kind at home....although I've made a respectable marinara sauce.....

I actually let my curry stay warm in the oven on a very low heat (after being cooked on the hob) and, without bragging, it is bloody gorgeous! I'd forgotten how good a cook I used to be (or could have been). No more ready-mixes or ready-meals for me from now on!

Yay!! Norma, getting back to her bad (in this instance, bad means good) home cooking self!!

Not sure whether its age or what ... but just lately I've really gotten into the baking / cooking mood. I've been making my own pastry now for a few months - and it is just so much better than that ready-roll-out stuff! Also - I can add flavourings (natural ones of course) to it. I've really been put off some foods - especially ready-foods - lately and it really doesn't take long to get stuff made from scratch yourself. The next thing I need to do is seek out local farms to buy my stuff from instead of going to the supermarket.

Good luck in your dearch for some farms you might deal with, Norma.....I know round here where I live, depending on time of year, one can actually go out to local farms and pick your own strawberries, tomatoes, blueberries.....I'm not sure of other foodstuffs, but, I know those are 3 for a fact.....I've even heard of a couple cattle ranches where one can go, and, buy partys of a cow, and, when the cow has beel dispatched, the ranch calls you up to get your order...

There are quite a few of them actually - dairy and farm produce. The only trouble is - you need to go with a group of people as most stuff is sold in bulk. For instance - a farm near my sister was selling cauli's - three for a pound (sterling). Now if I bought three caulis - I know I'd use one and the other two would end up in the bin as I wouldn't get round to cooking them soon enough!

Seriously though - I do think it is time people started buying straight from the producer and just by-pass the supermarket stage!

Gordon Bennett! I've just realised how bloody boring I'm sounding!!!!!!!

Norma, you're not boring me at all, but, I would agree, more support for the local growers is needed....too many are going under, or, being bought out by developers....

I hope we get another vote on this that will determine the winner as we have a tir between roast chicken and pizza
Yes, for the chicken curry with rice....but, if I could vote again, I'd vote for the fish and chips....
