2008 is the 40th anniversary of the first airing of Elvis’s 1968 television special. This extravagant entertainment special features Elvis in some of his greatest and best-loved moments captured on video. Elvis in black leather and the giant red “Elvis” letters are just a couple of iconic images that come from this program.

Celebrate the '68 Special online at Elvis.com with a mini-site that features '68 Special fun facts, videos, photo gallery, trivia game, special e-card and wallpaper and more.

Check out the all new '68 Special mini-site.

It's almost impossible to believe that it's been 40 years since Elvis did that show :o I have a limited edition gold disc of 'If I Can Dream' which was issued especially for the 30th anniversary of the Comeback Special and it has a special place on my wall   It's my pride and joy

Me neither, us two would have looked far better

How lucky in life would you be to get to the recording of Elvis' 68 TV Special and also make it to the recent 40th Anniversary screening in L.A?

EIN's correspondent Joan Gansky is one of those few very fortunate fans.

Joan Gansky not only met with Elvis multiple times - but being at the original NBC recording of the 68 Special truly changed her life!

Here are her unique recollections of attending the recent 40th Anniversary celebration.

If I could find a time machine, the Comeback Special in '68 would be the place I would go
