Thanks,Nina. I've always been too close to see their positions other than the front row.

Not as good as Nina's but still.

My pics didn't turn out as well - but that's life

I must admit, by yesterday evening I was absolutely shattered. I ended up just burbling on. I'd still do it again but I'd rather have a years run to put everything into. When I get really tired, my brain closes down. By the look on faces, some wished it wasn't just my brain and that my mouth would join it.

Loved seeing the children...

Thank you for all the show photos...so glad you were brave enough to take them :D

yes, thank god, I know some were being taken at the end, but I had put my camera away and thought it was too late to start rummaging duirng the standing ovation - I did take one of the set before the show started but a loud voice told me off..it didnt come out very well anyway, it didnt have the range with the flash
Isn't it Will

Yes. I think you're right.

Darius is so good with children. He barely needed to act in the scenes with them, apart from the one with the second lullaby.

Friday they ran over and had a non-child dead Bonnie. It does make a difference. I thought the man playing Will was brilliant.
The little girl playing Bonnie was adorable.

eh? a non-child dead Bonnie?

I've just been thinking. Poor Darius had to pick up and carry 3 different people in the show - Scarlett, Melanie and Bonnie.

and he lifted Scarlett and Melanie with such ease. Even my hubby was impressed.

someone else who enjoyed the show..

Last night my good friend Chiara treated me to see Gone With The Wind in London as my belated bday pressie. We had a fab meal at Maxwell's at Covent Garden and not a bad looking waiter either :P. With our full tummies, we slowly made our way to the New London Theatre where Mark and I saw The Blue Man Group a couple years ago.

They had some great merchandise but I limited myself to just a keepsake program whereas Chiara also grabbed up their classic his & hers aprons! One saying "Frankly My Dear I Don't Give A Damn!" and the other proclaiming that "I Will Never Be Hungry Again" very classic!!

Although the show has received bad reviews, we thoroughly loved it!! Even to the small details like redoing the railings up in the Dress Circle to some peeling white wash picked fences. Darius was surprisingly great as Rhett but Scarlett left us wanting a bit more. A great performance mind you but she needed a stronger voice for that role. She just didnt quite move me the way I hoped she would. However I did love hearing them brag and boast about 'Tara'. :P

Regarding Jill, I think they are forgetting how long she is onstage compared to say to vivien leigh who was there for filming when she was wanted, theres a difference.Great to see Darius getting good comments again. hanks PIP.
I think he surprised so many people. It's such a shame that it didn't run longer so that more could be impressed. It amazed me that so many hadn't realised just how good Darius is before this.

How would they know, megham, if they didn't watch Popstars and hear that powerful raw voice used in its full range. I still remember the deep baritone on Shakedown, the song the judges refused to judge and made him do HMBOMT with Nicky asking him to show them his full range! in a 3 minute pop song? Was she crazy?

They've probably only heard the singles and four of those Colourblind, Rushes, Incredible and Kinda Love are fun pop, great pop but still easily dismissed.

Most people would have no inkling of his versatility or range because the singles released from Live Twice which showcased it best were more in the mould of those released from Dive In.

When Darius took over in Chicago, there was no press night and the only reviews were on blogs, rather in newspapers.

Guys and Dolls was limited geographically but the reviews in the regional papers were generally very good. It was clear he was well suited to MT.

The songs in neither show were any test at all for Darius's voice and he even had to hold back.

I think if we're honest even we were gobsmacked when we first saw him as Rhett. For me, he was still Darius acting (very well) up there in Chicago and G&D but after "1861", he was the living breathing Rhett Butler. His songs really showed off his voice. Have you ever heard Darius sing such a low bass note as the one at the end of "deleterious to trade?" And the final high notes of "Nobody Knows You" were divine. "Alone" so emotional and Bonnie's Lullaby so sweet.

It was a role in a million, one which sadly he didn't do for long but one I'm sure he is proud to have been Rhett and to have received such acclaim from the audiences in particular bur also from the critics.

I think the critics thought "reality Tv star" easy meat, but quickly found they had an MT star on their hands.
