I'm not at all sure I'll do a calendar this year. It really depends on what he does from now.

darius looks more and more like Rhett!!

Would be so good to see the show reviewed now by American critcs and see what they think - just out of interest

I don't know why Margaret Martin wanted GWTW to open in London. I think it would have done so much better either opening cold on Broadway like it did here or doing a regional theatre in America before moving to Broadway. Maybe it was fate and Darius was meant to be Rhett early in his acting/MT career and wow the critics, or most of them.

I just don't see how anyone could sum up what he's learned and done in the past 6 months as in any way detrimental to him.

The media and individuals have always poked fun at Darius because of Popstars so he's not much worse off in that respect. On the contrary there will be a good number of people who might have believed their insults, who won't now that they've heard his range and power and the emotion he can put into songs and seen him carry off a fairly varied acting role.

They were looking at the West End or Broadway. I hope this goes ahead. What a waste of a great show if it just dies away completely.

well, the show was fantastic today, some of the cuts I did notice, but none left me wishing they had bben left, the show works so well

We hung arund before th show as we didnt know where else to wander, then a taxi puled up outside the theatre and Darius got out - dare I say it took some prodding from my husband to get me to approach Darius as he had almost finished having photos taken with others, but I did, and had a photo taken by hubby - needless to say it is horrendous..blurred and somehow I have the wierdest expression!! but it was lovely just being that near him again, he is so sweet, although I am sure Darius must have felt my heart thudding as he had his arm around me and mine around him, what does he do to me!! I felt I was going to faint as I approached him LOL its a shame the photo is terrible, but it is a memory, I also got the mug..s I wanted.

Darius is just so much Rhett now, I forget he is Darius on that stage, and his voice was fantastic, he held the last note of Nobody knows you for an age, and it was spine tingling!

very well recieved by the crow, although the circle was closed the downstairs was packed, and the show recieved a standing ovation again form a large number of the audience, and those not standing were whistling and cheering -

it was great seeing it from the side, clsoer to a lot fo Darius action, Bonny was so sweet - we were closer to that scene this time. I did nearly cry after the end knowing it only had one week to run.

I think the Evening Standard's critic Nicholas De Jongh's remark about Darius's "beautiful high vocals" probably referred to Nobody Knows You and maybe to part of Alone.

yes, Nobody knows you is beautiful - I am so gutted not to have a recording of that, his high vocals are so pure

Alone - he sings quite high in some places..and the lubbaby,

His voice was superb on saturday, I'm your man - wow his voice just had such a deep richness

His voice has the ability to convey the emotion of the songs so well, from the humourous, to the sauciness - to the pain he is feeling - to the love he feels for Scarlett- I could listen forever to be honest - No ones voice has ever moved me like his can

Fancy needing your husband to make you talk to Darius, He doesn't bite, although, of course, you may like him to. I always think of you shaking so much that you can't speak and your husband looking after you.
Nobody Knows You was the one which left me openmouthed when i went to see the show - it was absolutely superb. I'd heard bits of the others on the TCM videos or the documentary but not that one. He really puts over Rhett's pretend mocking indifference and the genuine affection deeper down.

we were standing about five meteres from the rest of the people waiting, when Darius got out of the taxi - my heart started pounding out of my chest, much like when you are at t eh top of a big dipper - I dont know what comes over me, but I feel unworthy and dont want to waste his time..LOL

there was an older lady next to me who asked "do you like him too", and then confessed she did, she wouldnt go up either - I cant explain just how hard my heart beats or how much I shake but its like I am going to faint, at my age I just feel so embarrased to feel like that over someone so it makes me very self concious. my husband is still nudging me and telling me I should be thankful he made me go up!! mind you - the photo is a big let down.LOL

at the moment I am jsut so angry that I will have no permantent record of the songs - at the minute I cant et Nobody out of my head, and darius' vocals - I'm your man and Alone. plus Gone with the wind, which was fantastic.

I just know that shortly the songs will disappear fomr my memory and its like I am grieving for them - It so unjust!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've seen it enough times that they'll always be there. Not just the Darius ones. At the moment my life runs in tune with them. I would have liked a monthly top up though.
the Darius ones are still there, but already the others are fading, I loved Desperate times, gwtw, blast and bother!!! didnt like Prissys, I dont recall that one, or the every child so much. I just dread waking up one day and not recalling them,
that is a great review, echoes what I felt - I must admit, this second time on seeing it, Jill's voice was a little nasal, and did at times grate - but not that much or often, and I would expect after all this time it must be feeling some strain surely!!

It sounds just like my first GWTW experience which I'm pleased to say I'm going to repeat on Wednesday.

Anyway, got to the theatre and oh my God the set is just completely stunning. It seeps out into the auditorium. Picket fences enclose the circle and flags hang on the wall of the stalls. Walkways come out into the stalls and down the aisles and it seriously looks like a tiny town in the deep South of America. Anyway, show starts, actors walk up the walkways and onto the stage. Beautifully sung opening number, then three hours of a musical rollercoaster began. I can't really say much except I absolutely loved it. I'd never read or seen GWTW but the storytelling was spot on. The cast narrate, which is always something I feel nervous about, but it was done effectively. The script was fairly good, a couple of corney lines but I kind of expected there would be. "Frankly my dear I don't give a damn" was received with much applause. The acting from all of the cast was very good. I was extremely impressed with Darius Danesh not only because he is drop dead gorgeous, but because he was one of the only people on stage with something always going on in his eyes. His acting in the final 45 minutes was just stunning and I so felt Rhett's heartbreak when Bonny dies. He also has a beautiful voice and so much stage presence it's unbelievable. Spot on casting. Jill Paice was also stunning as Scarlett. She has one hell of a job to do because she's barely off stage. Very good acting, right sort of attitude for Scarlett from what I understand from my mum (ha) and she has a lovely voice, though her head voice was slightly hard to listen to sometimes. She does a fantastic job though. The rest of the 'lead cast' were also fantastic, and were really giving their all. The music is beautiful, in my opinion. Really lovely harmonies especially for the slaves (their number was the highlight of the second act) and some really beautiful ballads. One problem. None of it is memorable. Ask me to hum you a melody from GWTW and I can;t do it. Maybe if I see it again I'll be able to, but right now I can't remember any of it. It did strike a chord (ha, ha) though.

The lyrics are mostly ok, though some of the rhyming is less than inspired.

The choreography and direction in most places are good, though sometimes there were a lot of people on stage when there needn't be.

The costumes were just jaw dropping. Especially Scarlett's green one when she goes to see Rhett in jail. My God. I want. The only costumes I had an issue with was the soldiers ones. Not neat enough, not polished enough, not proud enough. They looked like they'd been worn by a thousand different actors beforehand. Was a bit of a let down, but the rest made up for it.

Just trying to think what else.

I was sad to see that the stalls were only just full and the circle was closed. This show does not deserve to close. It's overlong, but only by about 15 minutes which could easily be cut as there are one or two unnecessary numbers. The storytelling is good, the cast are superb, the story is very moving and the music is gorgeous. I left the theatre feeling a bit tired but I loved it to the point where I immediately stood up at the curtain call which I very rarely do these days.
