I think Sir Trevor walked the line between telling an unfamiliar story for some audience members and lovingly re-visiting a very famous (and revered) one for others, wonderfully well.

I can't wait to see the changes for myself. I'm just sorry that for the moment, it's the last time I'll see Darius on a theatre stage for a while.

I wish they'd videoed it. I'm curious to know how much of D's electrifying stage presence comes over on a sceen.

I cannot beleive they are going to close this show without some forms of recording - at the very least, I am sure Margerate Martin would want to have a video and record of the show and songs that she has worked so long on if it is about to disappear into the ether for good - that can't be right. I find it totally unblievable if it isnt being recorded for some reason - we just need to get our copies too, is it too much to ask?????

Margaret Martin may be able to get hold of the TCM recording of the dress rehearsal for her personal use. Hopefully the cast might too.

It seems to be what happens for Darius. we never got a dvd of his tour either but other performers did.
By the law of averages, all the switches; success, credibility, record for posterity, have to click on at some point. I hope it isn't too long coming or I may not be around when they do for Darius and us.

Great to see you yesterday BT :)

Here's a few pics from Tuesday evening, with more to follow later :)

I did think it was great to see you too, B.P. The show was in magnificent shape, wasn't it?

All I heard were people praising the show, not just the cast, and saying how wrong it was for GWTW to be closing. They just couldn't understand it. I think the fact it's getting standing ovations every time speaks volumes. Broadway shows always get standing ovations and exaggerated whooping, bravos, and shouts of more but it's much rarer in the West End.

I wasn't as tired yesterday as the last time I saw the show and I could really appreciate how good an actor Darius is. He has an incredibly mobile face especially his expressive eyebrows. One tiny lift of a brow says so much

agree, BT! I really thought his expressions were spot on, even without needing to say a word he summed up the feeling, thinking of things like the buying back of the wedding ring, the look when scarlett asked if he had bought hers back..He wasnt acting, he was rhett, thinking what rhett would be thinking I forgot he was darius to be honest, nver thought that would happen so completely.

and yup, both times I have seen it, standing ovations and cheers, and only positve commnets on leaving - only last visit, many were quite angry or supirsed it was closing an dcouldnt understand why either!

The change in Darius's expression from when he's been gently telling Scarlett that Frank was shot in the raid and Scarlett immediately asks him about Ashley's prognosis is stunning - he doesn't have to say a thing............... all of Rhett's frustration and disgust are in that one fleeting expression which drew applause from yesterday's audience.

I nearly cried at one point yesterday - when Bonnie has just broken her neck and Scarlett accuses him of killing her baby - the look in Rhett's eyes and on his face was totally heartrending!

The show was fantastic, I have enjoyed every visit and what has surprised me the most is how much I have enjoyed everyone else's perfomances in the show, as well as D's. It's a real shame it is closing :(

Last few pics until the next D adventure.

Fantastic. Look how alive he is. Positively sparkling.

A naughty pic? Thanks for taking the risk. I saw someone having either their mobile or camera taken away by an usher when they'd been taking pictures of the set as the audience were coming in..

Lovely Paul. Quite a few people were taking photos at the end of the show on Thursday.
I should think there'll be a barrage of them tonight and the FOH staff won't step in. I'll be thinking of you all.

Here's a picture I took after the matinee

thanks for that picture - I took on at the start and got told off..LOL..so I was hoping someone else would get some. my camera doesnt have enough flash to get a good pic, the one I got is very dark even with the flash!

I cannot beleive that is it! I loved the show yesterday, Darius was fantastic!

we were up in the dress circle row D right in the middle, so had a great view of everything. I found tears runing down my face quite early on -

how did the last show go? I am sure the cast ahd some bets on with some pranks..

we still have songs in our heads, and my daughter enjoyed it, although she jumped out of her skin at the gun shot, and the Atlanta burning -

we caught Darius early before collecting our tickets, and he posed for a photo with daughter.

This is the big musical they keep on about needing in WE - but they have spurned it, I cannot beleive it is being closed.
