The one I dislike is the latest of him with N and the boys in LA

The resemblance to Liam Waite is striking........just the angle the camera has caught.

Google Image brings up a photo of LW caught at a similar angle.

Of course in flesh and blood the difference is huge. I guess the photo resemblance was the thing that caused many

people to say it wasn't D when it obviously was.

Everyone has bad pics taken off them - some of us more than others. My daughter is beautiful but photographs really badly. She comes out well in videos but not in still. I think so much of her charm is in her vivacity and that's not picked up by the camera. I have a few dreadful Darius ones as well, the camera doesn't show him as well as life does either.

Filmstars are supposed to have a 'best' side......some even insist on sitting with that side to the cameras in interviews.

If it makes them feel better ..... I just hate pics of me. Luckily, there aren't that many.

Good gracious, after all this time I've found another review of GWTW. I was tidying out all the loose papers and things from my DD box and discovered there were 2 Sunday Telegraph ones - the one on here already was from the magazine but there was another one in the main paper - talk about chalk and cheese - The main paper one seems to reflect more of what I saw.

It's very long. I hope you don't mind if I just post the Rhett/Scarlett bits.

Title : Frankly, my dear, this is worth a damn.

Gone With The Wind is so deeply etched in the public imagination that only sheer artistic chutzpah could carry off a stage version. Jenny Mccartney reports from Drury Lane .

"Sometimes the stage make believe works beautifully, as it does during the tragic death of Rhett Butler and Scarlett's daughter, Bonnie."

"The physical presences of Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable in the roles are so firmly etched on the collective consciousness that it would be folly indeed to attempt to erase tham. Wisely, Nunn does not try.

Jill Paice, as Scarlett, has Leigh's delicate feline bone structure, a waist as tiny as her voice is big and a gruelling live performance to carry off.I wished at the start that she would relax and set the bitchy, witty, ruthlessly flirtatious Scarlett free to strut the stage, but these are early days.

The surprise of the show, however, is Darius Danesh, a Glaswegian who came to popular attention as a losing contestant on Pop idol, the television talent show, but who plays Rhett with a masterly combination of dash and pathos.

Thank God they've got Rhett right, I thought. You don't mess with him: it is the prospect of darkly roguish Rhett, the blast of pure masculine force, that will have the ladies urgently booking tickets for themselves and their friends."

"One is condemned to begin by sniggering a little at Gone With The Wind, and end by crying. Just at the point where Rhett said, "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn" - the famous words echoed by the expectant audience - I suddenly found I did."

That's a real review - the person probably saw thwe whole thing and watched it.

I think she is spot on - you don't mess with Margaret Mitchell's Rhett or Scarlett for that matter, something the producers and directors of the motion picture knew very well and took the time to ensure they could capture.

I thought Darius was stupendous in Bonnie's death scene - the light hearted teasing of an adoring father, the fall was beautifully choreographed and the slow motion really effective, his seamless transition to a run and his anguished cry and then grief followed by that heartbreaking look of agonising pain when Scarlett screamed that he'd killed her baby. i don't think I'll ever forget that look.

I think it was the final proof of just how fine an actor he'd become. I do so hope the album comes out soon though. It may even be one I like.
It would be a step forward if he put some new downloadable songs on his myspace as a stopgap until the whole album is ready. How long does registering copyright and such like take?
He did say he wasn't going to as these are the songs he wants producers etc to hear - hence the dropping of 'b' sides. That was a long time ago now, let's hope he changes his mind.

Well cant say I agree with his views but whats new.
Is it because I've seen Darius play the most iconic American romantic hero so well, that I find the portrayal of the English equivalent, Mr Darcy, so disappointing in the Lost In Austen tv series or is the actor just so bland that he doesn't stand out at all from the many other young men?

ditto baytree. however caught tess of he d urbevilles this week and enjoyed it.

That's one I haven't been tempted to watch.

I've only ever read any of Hardy's books because I had to. I find Hardy too longwinded as an author. He goes into complicated details which for me, slow down the plot. I used to hate reading Balzac because he did the same and I'd lose concentration because I was so irked at the faffing around.
