April 16, 200817 yr http://londondingdong.blogspot.com/2008/04...ightseeing.html Last night I was fortunate to visit one of London’s iconic music venues – Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club. Since 1965 the Frith Street club has seen some of the top names in international music grace its stage. Last night was the turn of a homegrown talent from a British reality TV show in the form of Mr Will Young. This is not a name one usually associates with jazz but as special guest of the Vanguard Big Band, Will certainly held his own. If he hasn’t already done so, Will Young showed once and for all that the British public do know what they are doing when it comes to talent show voting!and another Went to Ronnie Scott's jazz club in London last night with Mum and Dad to see Will Young perform with the Ronnie Scott's Vanguard Big Band. The club was awesome, really tiny ( I think about 300 people), you go in and there's tiered benches with a shelf table and little red lamps. Because they're tiered you have a perfect view of the stage. It was really dark and intimate. The Vanguard Big Band were superb, they were being led by Gerard Presencer, who is a world-reknowned Flugelhorn player, and is Head of Jazz at the Royal College of Music. He was incredible, his trumpet just sounded PERFECT. In fact, the sound quality was the best I've ever heard. (http://www.hopper-management.com/artist.php?AR_ID=134 ; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerard_Presencer) Will: Will was just, well I don't know, I was pretty overwhelmed. He came out after a couple of instrumental pieces written by Gerard, wearing morning suit trousers, a morning shirt and red and cream braces. He looked beautiful!! Then he started to sing, and his voice was perfect, as was the music. He did some awesome songs: Minnie the Moocher; Summertime; Smooth Operator, etc. It was incredible. It was probably the best gig I've ever been to, which got me thinking: what other gigs have I been to??
April 16, 200817 yr Great finds BYM+M's. Fans & members alike couldn't fail to have been impressed. :D It was also brilliant to see people in the street asking who was on when they saw the queue then trying to get tickets. Edited April 16, 200817 yr by truly talented
