Great chart this week, and another great no.1. We Are Scientists thought they'd snagged it, then Last Shadow Puppets grabbed it from them. But now, the title for Record of the Year 2008 has gone to Mystery Jets, who follow up the excellent 'Young Love' with what can only be described as the best thing i've heard this year. And considering some of the quality we've witnessed (heard?) already in 2008, that's no mean feat. It isn't even released until the end of next month, so expect it to challenge for the 'Longest Time Spent at No.1' record as well. A top 5 brimming and spilling over and staining the tablecloth with quality consists of former record of the year 'Age Of The Understatement' holding out at no.2, Young Knives staying put at no.3 and Black Kids shuffling down a couple of places to no.4. Foals have possibly already hit their peak at 5 with 'Red Socks Pugie' as there's a good chance there'll be some stiff competition for top 5 places in the coming weeks.
Outside the top 5, the quality hardly dampens, with former top 5-ers Los Campesinos! and the Wombats slipping a couple of places each. For the first time ever in TOTB, a massive 3 new entries (not counting Mystery Jets at no.1), including chart favourites The Fratellis and two chart debutants Digitalism and Infadels which will all probablies climb the chart next week finish off this week's very fresh top 10
