September 6, 200816 yr Thanks sunday. Will's really entered into the spirit of things. Shame his set has been cut but better than him not performing at all.
September 6, 200816 yr Well I am home - had my dinner and thought I would just let you know how we got on. I went to the Bestival at about 2.30, had a text from Val to say he was on the BBC Introducing Stage at 4.40. They ran out of wrist bands so we had to wait for a while. Found Philippa, Bev and Emma and trudged down to the bottom field, mainly on the concrete paths but we did have to go across a muddy bit. Guess what? I fell over! Flat on my back in the mud. I didn't hurt myself as it was like landing on a duvet. After wiping myself down we carried on to the field where the BBC stage was. It was quite big and there were various unrecognisable bands playing. Phil, Bev and Emma had a look round while I sat on a proper bench chatting to the people opposite me. Everyone was very friendly. At about 4.10 we slurped our way down to the stage and stood for a while by a wheelie bin which was OK because it gve us a clear view of the stage. However one of the girls noticed that there was a space near the barrier to the right. So we paddled out way down there and stood right up against the barrier. Excellent view. They took ages setting up and then the main man came on! Hooray! He looked delicious in his admiral's outfit. You have seen the pictures so I needn't describe the outfit. He was in fine voice - Changes, Your Game, Blame It On the Sun, the Joni Mitchell song (Help Me?) and Leave Right Now. I think that's all - I'm a bit bemused! He was unable to do another song because he took so much time larking about stripping off various items of clothing that he "lost song time". This is according to Faye who was right in front of me trying to attract his attention. Such a shame he couldn't have more time. As he was singing Leave Right Now the rain started again but we all stayed where we were, obviously, and then he was off. I decided to come home then and Phil, Emma and Bev walked me back up the hill (very steep) to the exit and the bus back to Newport. My trousers (waterproof) were muddy up to my waist, from the splashing. It was an experience I can tell you - I'm glad I did go.
September 6, 200816 yr Thanks for relaying your experience Pearl. I'm sure it's one you won't forget. Pity Will's set was cut but I'm sure what you heard will have been brilliant. Edited September 6, 200816 yr by truly talented
September 6, 200816 yr Author Thanks Sunday and Pearl for your post. Sounds like everyone had a great time. Shame they had to cut their set but at least he did perform. Just a little snippet from Mary on D: Had a text from Julie earlier when I asked if he went down well and she said Yep. Huge crowd and great reception. Mary xx Great end to a great summer . Roll on Autumn/Winter  :cheer: :yahoo: And we've got an ad for Admiral.com at the bottom of the page  Edited September 6, 200816 yr by munchkin
September 6, 200816 yr Another triumph for Will. :yahoo: Think this wil be the first of many years for him at the festivals.
September 7, 200816 yr Thanks for your report back Pearl, I'm glad you managed to enjoy yourself despite the mud diving experience, at least you had a soft landing so to speak. :friends: Is Will ever going to learn to stop waffling and larking about and wasting song time? hopefully not yet, as we love him for this nearly as much as we love his singing. Glad he got a huge crowd and great reception again. :yahoo:
September 7, 200816 yr Imagine if he sang straight through the songs without the waffle - it wouldn't be the same and he would get criticised for not interacting with the crowd. He is a past master at getting the crowd on his side. I had chats with various people - in the queue and while I was waiting for Philippa and co. A young man behind me said he met him in a club and he was lovely and so friendly. All the people I spoke to didn't have a bad word for him.

That's because they're "real people" Pearl and don't have an agenda, unlike the faceless, anonymous net posters on DS and similar.
September 7, 200816 yr Author That's because they're "real people" Pearl and don't have an agenda, unlike the faceless, anonymous net posters on DS and similar. Absolutely - I was going to post the same thing after reading Pearl's post. I've always thought that - why else would they be so quick to sell their spiteful stories to the press. He's a human being with failings just like the rest of us and I wouldn't have him any other way. Think this wil be the first of many years for him at the festivalsI agree TT.Really made up for him - he's had a great summer. Couple of snippets from SweetWilliamFan on D about Will's strip show: Everything he took off he threw into the crowd! His scarf was first. And then his waistcoat, which he decided to remove slowly while dancing suggestivly on one of the large speakers. Sexy sod! He threw both heavey boots as well and the last one hit someones brolly! they went nuts for him I asked her if he threw the coat: He didnt throw the coat but i forgot that he did throw his glasses first! The nutter http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/9362/02mh3.jpg Lots of pix of the day on here: Will's #5. Some fantastic outfits on there :w00t: http://www.bbc.co.uk/hampshire/content/ima...gallery.shtml?1 Edited September 7, 200816 yr by munchkin
September 7, 200816 yr According to some other website Amy Winehouse only played for barely half and hour and was incoherent and abusing the crowds. Half the people had left by the time she finished.
September 7, 200816 yr According to some other website Amy Winehouse only played for barely half and hour and was incoherent and abusing the crowds. Half the people had left by the time she finished. She was an hour late too. It's a shame other artists had their sets shortened & in some cases cancelled to accommodate someone so unprofessional. :arrr: Maybe people are wising up to her. A young man behind me said he met him in a club and he was lovely and so friendly. All the people I spoke to didn't have a bad word for him. Loved reading this. :D Thanks Pearl.
September 7, 200816 yr Author According to some other website Amy Winehouse only played for barely half and hour and was incoherent and abusing the crowds. Half the people had left by the time she finished. I've just had a look on WENN . There's a set of pix for day 2 of Bestival - 4 pages long - ALL of them Ms Whinehouse apart from two pictures of a muddy pool.
September 8, 200816 yr Thanks for the updates and your report Pearl :cheer: He seems to be having such a great time and he is so so happy. I thnk he's in a good place at the moment  It's coming across in everything he is doing :cheer: I listened to some radio interivews over the weekend and he's even having a ball with them :o  This picture cracks me up  http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/9362/02mh3.jpg
September 8, 200816 yr I've just clicked on this thread and cracked out laughing as there's an ad at the bottom of the page, of a guy dressed as an Admiral with a parrott on his shoulder saying, "get a quote from Admiral.com".
September 13, 200816 yr After a struggle I have managed to get the clip from Meridian TV onto You Send It. Here is the link. Bestival clip
September 13, 200816 yr After a struggle I have managed to get the clip from Meridian TV onto You Send It. Here is the link. Bestival clip Pearl. Lovely to see Will in his admiral's outfit. Not sure about the specs though. It couldn't have been muddier could it. :o Edited September 13, 200816 yr by truly talented
September 13, 200816 yr The specs were a prop! Not his real ones. He threw them into the crowd right at the beginning.

I guessed they weren't his real ones but if you notice the graphics on the new site he's wearing them in the "Live" section: http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b358/ldpictures/will/website/liveR.jpg Edited September 13, 200816 yr by munchkin
