Any songs with points took those points into the next round so e.g. if a song beat one other in the first round, it only had to face and beat 2 others in the second round.

At the moment we have 2 songs with 2 points, 7 with 1 point and nine with 0 points, going into the last round.

Another painless but much more complicated way to reduce the songs would be to form 3 leagues of 6 songs and let 3 or 4 (to be agreed) go through after the final points tally.

In the league challenges you would have a maximum of 3 points to award. You could give all 3 points to an outright favourite, divide 1-2 or award 1 point each if you can't call it. If you hate both you have the option to give both 0.

For a league to work, I'd have to put a time limit on each list's vote though.i.e I'd need to put up the pairs and say vote closes at .... on.....

I could post the running totals in a separate thread.

I'd like to hear a range of views. Maybe someone has a better idea.

I've never had the feeling that people were comfortable with straight knockouts. I put it forward as an option because we have been doing this for some time and some people may now want to get it over with quickly.

The last set of challenges only put through 2 songs. If that happens this time, we'll have to dispense with up to 16 songs. Perhaps later they could go into a least favourite poll along with those already knocked out.

A league would allow us to decide in advance how many songs will go through to the final.

What makes you feel we wouldn't like a straight forward knockout, BT. Was it your female intuition or did someone say something? Whatever you choose, BT. It's your comp. I may moan but you'd be surprised if I didn't. I've known you groan when a good one goes too.

Go with what you feel and we'll, somwtimes very slowly, will go along with you.

The last time we did a straight forward knockout I didn't get good feedback. In fact I think I recall getting some hate mail!
Of course - nothing you didn't expect though. I hate losing tracks. Be brave BT, do whatever you feel should be done. I'll just sharpen my quill

It's last chance saloon for these songs. I've decided their fairest chance is to be tried against all of the remaining songs in a kind of league. I'll start it on Monday.

BTW Darius's singles' videos are no more (for the present time) on youtube.

I'd checked them out after I heard that all UK videos would be taken down over something..... a row over PRS?

They were playing normally then, but now there's a strip which says this video is not available in your country.

Well I was thinking we might have another go at this in June. I'm a touch confused about where we got to. Anybody give me a quick resume or do I have to go figure for myself?
I think I'd go for figuring it out yourself. It was a long time ago and we'd left the choice to you. Life doesn't get easiert. does it?

....yes perhaps you should look back at what you have done, I'm not much help.....................

I think we said about what BT thought we would. She's just too polite to say we're useless.

Eh?

Even I'm not too sure what I was thinking when I wrote that. It must have seemed absolutely sensible once!

Yes. I'm going to stop being a coward and postponing the inevitable. I'm quite busy thisweek but I'll aim to have a few choices up on Tuesday and yes, that's this week.
