I have such immense respect for her doing that, I mean it was obvious that her record label didn't want to release it and I'm glad she took control to deliver it to us like this.

Sampler sounds amazing, I like that there are some more downbeat tracks towards the end. I'm really excited about 'Dial My Number', I loved it live and it sounds so anthemic.

Nice library interview with whatyougot:

I love how she commented the general attitude of her 'laziness' on the forums.

I think it's all for good that she's has gone indie, for her it could be the best way to release music, without all this record labels stuff like 'oh wait, this has flopped, now let's wait another year'.

If there's one artist I really want to be succesful it's Sophie, because she's the one who deserves it the most.

Too bad they're gonna make a cheap sort of compilation video for Starlight.

and LOL, I'm a regular visitor of popjustice (don't post there myself) but that thread is just the worst... I actually feel sorry for Sophie for reading that :P

Arrs please let us know what it's like when you get your hands on it today :D (if you get your hands on it today).

I can't wait to hear it!! I'm so obsessed right now with Just Can't Fight This Feeling.

I'm going to the music store today but I'm not convinced I'll find the album there, given it is:

a) something dealing with Russia

b ) something dealing with Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

And it STILL hasn't leaked.

I think it's leaked but I cannot seem to find it.

OK this album is amazing!!

06 Revolution

10 Bittersweet

08 Off & On - I misjudged it!

06 Under Your Touch

05 Make A Scene

06 Magic

A little disappointing although those final two songs really pull it back. Overall quite a lot of rather faceless disco pop on there.

Here's my rate (I never give 10s) :

'Make a Scene' is THE SONG of the album. 12/10. I don't bother to listen to anything else.

Funny you said that, because I'm now listening to it and it's the only one I don't like so far! The rest is pretty classy, sophisticated, beautiful disco pop (if a bit throwaway.)

I just love the messy saxophone melody in the chorus and how it goes classy and tough towards the end of the song, I'm eargasming.

I thought I'd resist listening to it completely until June 6th, but I've waited so long and needed something to tide me over so what the hell, I listened to bits of each song.

Sounding really good, 'Dial My Number' is good but not as good as it was live. :( 'Under Your Touch' is sounding quite splendid, 'Make A Scene' is different for her and I'm liking the downbeat tracks at the end. I always like it when she does those, to sort of break the album up a bit and show her versatility.

I can't believe it's actually out there, especially when I began to become convinced it'd just be locked in a vault forever.

I had absolutely no idea there was a Sophie-Ellis Bextor forum. Haha. I've only heard 'Make a Scene' but was pleasantly surprised. I'm liking the Róisín Murphy/Moloko similarities and it's clearly better than everything on the new Metronomy album. Quick questions: Has Richard X produced anything on here? Is the album actually any good? The stuff she did with Freemasons recently was pretty awful... looks like it makes up a lot of the album.
Richard X produced Starlight and I Still Believe In Magic if I'm not mistaking. But if you don't like the Freemasons stuff (which is amazing :P) I'm not sure you will like that.
Linkery please :)
I'm not keen on the album so far, the tracks all seem a bit bland and don't go anywhere :(
