I spoke with Meg today.

Things are a tad better but not progressing that well.

He is now managing mash and cheese and his cups of tea.

She is also trying to get build-up type drink into him.

The GP came and gave other antibiotics and some stronger painkillers, so she is hoping that he will improve some more.

At the moment he is still unsteady and needs 2 at bedtime.

His memory has all but gone, making it difficult as she has to keep repeating herself as he's forgotten.

So she is pretty frustrated and fed up.

She is also trying to spend some time with her neighbour who's wife has just died.

Not a good time.

I do hope things improve enough for her to get a break at her son's as was planned.

Thanks for the update, spamfritter.

I hope there is better progress soon. It's so typical of megham to think of others even when she's so stretched herself.

Meg, I'm pleased there is some improvement. It's tragic that your next-door neighbour died, especially when you had

your hands full with the hospital situation. I hope you are not trying to do too much, looking after your father-in-law

and consoling your neighbour. Remember to look after yourself as well. So take care, and I hope things go on improving.

Thanks Spamfritter, for putting us in the picture. I hope things improve.
Thanks spam fritter for keeping us up to date. I hope things improve for Meg soon otherwise she will be exhausted.

Neil enrolled and sorted his bus pass but still can't get his timetable.

He needs it to let work know what days he can work.

Last year it took 4 weeks into term to get a permanent timetable....it kept changing!

His boss says she doesn't want messing around like last year....not the poor boys fault if college keeps changing it.

He's going to ring the head tutor again tomorrow and then if no luck I'll get intouch with a friend who's husband happens to be head of college to see what he can do.

...we have ways and means....... :naughty:

Megs father-in-law has taken a turn for the worse and is back in hospital. Doesn't look good :(
I'm sorry to hear that. I'll give Meg a ring tonight.

A dreadful time. My thoughts are with you Meg. I hope your father-in-law is not in pain, that the hospital is keeping up

the painkillers, and that they are giving him better care this time.

Pam, I shall be very surprised if the college can give Neil a cut and dried timetable.....there always seems to be a trial run

period in the first few weeks till things are straightened out. Yet schools manage to produce a workable timetable

from the very beginning of the year. Maybe because colleges offer so very many courses, and so many facilities have to be shared?

You're quite right, they can't.

He just needs to know which day he isn't going in so he can let work know.

Surely they must know that :(

Meg's father-in-law is now getting the correct pain relief and is more comfortable, but extremely ill, unlikely to recover.

You would have thought by now the college would have some sort of timetable. Surely the teachers need to know when and who they are teaching.

you would think so....but saddly

He's going to ring again today.

Luckily his manager is on maternity leave....she was blaming Neil for last years changes and didn't want him messing her this year.

Not his fault....some people have little understanding. He only works 8hours.....I'm sure it could be accomodated with out all the stress it's causing.

When I did my HNC recently, it was October before our timetable settled and the course had begun in the last week of August.

One problem was the availability of accommodation with computers with particular software - in our case it was a desk top publishing suite.

Another problem was that the young lawyer who'd been brought in to teach Mercantile Law for 3 days a week had one class less than expected and they crammed the rest into 2 days instead - she left! Someone in the Marketing dept, who had suitable teaching qualifications was then drafted in to teach some of the Mercantile Law classes and some of his marketing classes were re-scheduled and any Mercantile Law classes which clashed with his other marketing commitments were also re-scheduled.

Timetabling is like a house of cards - one move can make a proper mess of it.

Thanks for the update about David's Dad. spamfritter. The imminent loss of a loved one is never easy.

The Artists Forum League Tables have recommenced......Darius Forum is No. 5.
It doesn't seem to be a normal one though. It appears to be an average for August, unless I'm not reading it right.

Yes, at the end it says it is from August 5th to September 1st.

That will be the time that Phil has been on holiday. I expect it will be regular again now he is back.

Can't say I missed them personally but many other people look forward to seeing how well their forum is doing in comparison to the other AFs and there is friendly rivalry amongst some of the mods.

I shouldn't think it's an easy task and I do think all those involved do a great job getting them out so regularly.

Yeah, we've actually got a start date for our new roof - 15th September. We've got a sporting chance of it being completed before the poorer weather sets in.
