I swapped all the leads and that didn't help at all. After I've done lunch, I'll try again.

So do I. Since my laptop went predominately pink and purple, I'm using my PC again. Grr, it's so slow by comparison and it's got a really rotten mouse which goes sticky every so often. If I've cleaned that ball once, I must've cleaned it dozens of times. I'm beginning to warm to pink and purple.
buy a new mouse. They don't cost that much. Turn of the pc and be amazed at how much better it is when you restart it. My son's pc (the oldest in the house) still has a mouse without a wheel and it drives me crazy.

Good idea. I've just plugged my more modern mouse I used with my laptop at home into a USB port on the front and bingo, it's working!

The other one's still connected at the back though.

especially the giant bird killing ones. I have that on very good authority - Darius's

How does the Caledonian Challenge work? Do entrants work in teams, walking a section each?

Your son must be ultra fit. Fiftyfour miles in twentyfour hours!

His foot failed him again. He didn't complete the final leg. He didn't have the time to prepare with things happening around him. Life is like that.
Oh, that's a shame. But at least he tried, more than a lot would do.
No, I stopped that when we were in the car crash - I wont be running again. Which is a shame but things could have been so much worse.

Sorry I've been awol. My computer went crazy and wouldn't load windows. I could only start it in safe mode and my speedtouch broadband thing wouldn't work in safe mode. I spent ages following all the troubleshooting stuff in the help section. I took it back to all the available past points but couldn't fix it.

I didn't. My neighbour's son did.

He made me take everything out one at a time and he did a few things. I went off to make another coffee and when I came back, he re-started it and it seemed to be normal. I checked that the broadband was OK.

I'm using the duff original mouse which came with the PC. I can't stand it. I'm not sure it wasn't the other mouse which caused the problem so tomorrow I'm buying a new one.

It seems very unlikely. I don't know how the pc would react to two active mice attatched. (or should that be mouses).

And can I borrrow your neighbour?)

I just get panicky when I have to do anything technical. I hate that modern computers don't come with a manual.
