True, Angels is a glaring ommision. I hate it, but it really was the one thing that allowed his solo career to last longer than a year.

I immediately looked for Madonna - Like A Prayer as that was the song that made critics sit up after a two year break and realise she was the real deal as an artist, but it is not there.

Then I looked for Robbie Williams - Angels but it is not there.

Then I looked for Oasis - Live Forever, but what is Whatever doing there as it is a rip off of the Rutles "I'm Free to be an idiot" doing there instead?

Then I looked for U2 - With Or Without You, but the lead track from their career disappointing Rattle & Hum album is there instead...

Then I looked for Michael Jackson - Billie Jean, but there is no song by him....

Then I looked for REM - Losing My Religion, but WTF is REM's worst ever song doing there that they themselves have disowned last performing it on Sesame Street as Furry Happy Monsters

Then I looked for Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit, but quelle surprise it is not on the list.......

I could go on & on but I decided to vote for Amy Winehouse - Rehab as it is the only song on the list to win the Grammy for Song Of The Year.

 But oh so true...

i've gone with britney. I remember everybody at school getting all hyped up about Britney Spears when she released that. Everybody seems to know the words. it's a great song

I would have gone with Madonna aswell, although she's had quite a few career defining hits, greedy cow :P i'd have chose frozen instead of vogue. (actually i'd have chosen lots of different songs that that on the list. Especially Beautiful instead of Genie in a Bottle for Christina)

Amy Wino best imo
Where are Girls Aloud and Sugababes?

Id pick Girls Aloud - Something Kinda Oooh and Sugababes - Push The Button/

I'll go with la Imbruglia and Torn, because being like the biggest radio hit of the 90s or whatever is pretty immense, and I still adore the song to this day.

I agree with Matt, GA and Sugas should be on the list! I'd say Push The Button IS what you'd choose for the Sugababes, but it's hard because they were already so well established and popular at that point. Same for GA - choosing between Sound Of The Underground (the huge #1 debut), Biology (the one everyone considers most innovative) and Somethin' Kinda Ooooh (the unexpected smash hit) is pretty difficult.

And I don't quite agree with all of your choices Shameless - for example for P!nk I'd have chosen Get This Party Started instead. The rest seem pretty spot on though! ^_^

Surely Love Machine is deemed as Girls Alouds standout track more than SKO? I would have chosen either - SOTU or LM! And As for Sugababes Even though i disliked the song, Freak Like Me is what REALLY boosted their career!

But i went for one of my favourite singles ever... Snow Patrol - Run!!! :D - But i was expecting to see Chasing Cars as that is what made them so big in the US aswell as over here! Also Leona deserves to be on that list with Bleeding Love!

Celine Dion -Think Twice, deffo in my top 5 songs of all time!

Aerosmiths 'I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing'. Oh no no no no no. :(

It's embarrasingly awful. Cheese at it's very best. This is a band who 30 years before this where pushing out Metal/Hard Rock classics like 'Toys In The Attic' and the critically acclaimed 'Rocks' album. 30 years later, the band that produced these classics dissapeared, literally, and came out with this pile of tosh (with the GREAT HELP from Dianne Warren <_< ). I'd say that 'Dream On' is more career defining, it's one of the first few decent rock-power ballads ever, and how it should be done.

"Wannabe" + "Dont Speak" are the only career defining singles in this list tbh...

You don't think BOMT was career defining for Britney, or Torn for Natalie? :o

You don't think BOMT was career defining for Britney, or Torn for Natalie? :o

Oooooh yes those two :o

Although i think Toxic + BOMT are pretty on par with eachother as the defining single of Britneys career.

Voted for Enya - Orinoco Flow

But tbh it was not fair to vote for just 1 song out of this list. The list is too long and full of brilliant songs. I could have voted for 10 other songs too. A multiple choice would have been better here :)

All Saints - Never Ever

But there are so much amazing singles that I love! It's hard to choose.
