Posted April 13, 200817 yr One of the world’s most dangerous terror suspects could be back on our streets and claiming handouts after the Government yesterday lost a battle to kick him out. Evil cleric Abu Qatada, dubbed Al Qaeda’s ambassador in Europe, won his human- rights appeal against deportation back to Jordan. It paves the way for the 20-stone fanatic to be allowed to stay in the UK on a lifetime of state benefits for him and his family. In a second devastating ruling, 12 Libyan terror suspects are also free to roam the streets after an agreement to send them home was left in tatters. The Court of Appeal threw out the Government’s so-called memorandum of understanding with Libya, saying it would not protect the 12 from risk of ill-treatment. It massively undermines the future of the agreements which ministers desperately try to use to get around human-rights barriers in returning extremists to potentially unsafe countries. One of the Libyan suspects now allowed to remain had a map marking routes under Birmingham airport’s flight path. The Tories’ terrorism expert, MP Patrick Mercer, said: “It seems that the Government has once again been made a monkey by terrorists or potential terrorists. “Bin Laden’s twisted ambassador in Europe remains a burden on the British taxpayer and is only one judgment away from liberty.” Do you think we should kick out all foreign terror suspects? Should some of the world's most dangerous terror suspects be allowed to walk on British streets? Source: Sunday Express
April 13, 200817 yr if any foreign national doesnt want to follow the laws of their adoptive country then they should be booted out...and i dont care where. how tf does this sh1t qualify for MY money?.... summuts radically wrong with this stupid pc ridden country. its time to get tough and i predict any political party that will grab the bull by the horns and tackle this injustice head on will do very very well in the next election.
April 15, 200817 yr I think in the case of Qatada, there's almost certainly a case to answer and he should be deported to Jordan to stand trial.... I'm frankly very dubious about Libya because of its own recent terrorist past, and Gadaffi's links to the IRA, I remain convinced that he covertly ordered the Lockerbie bombing... Now, we're supposed to be all "chummy" with him.... We do have to be bloody careful....for example, if China tells us that the Falun Gong people or Tibetans in exile in the UK are "nasty, evil terrorists" and we should deport them back to China, I guess we'll round them up and put 'em on a plane, yeah....? My point...? Simple really, any one of these nasty regimes that we seem to be in bed with can say pretty much anyone is a terrorist, when in fact the reality is that in most cases their "terrorism" consists of merely being activists against oppression in their home countries.....
April 15, 200817 yr qatada though IS a terrorist in this country... not a 'freedom fighter'.. hes not being oppressed here, we gave him a home and he wants to kill us...
April 15, 200817 yr qatada though IS a terrorist in this country... not a 'freedom fighter'.. hes not being oppressed here, we gave him a home and he wants to kill us... Well, I didn't really include Jordan in that round-up of nasty regimes (I was thinking more of places like Libya, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, China, etc, countries with pretty horrendous records of human rights violations....). Jordan's not without its problems, but in relation to others in that region, they're pretty benign... But, wasn't this case against Qatada actually thrown out on the grounds that evidence was obtained under torture...? Seems to me that the lesson to be learned here is "dont torture people and maybe we'll rule in your favour...". When are prosecutors gonna learn that obtaining "evidence" in this manner just shoots your own case in the foot...? Like, DUH!!!!!
