Not strictly true mate, Johnny Rotten himself rated Iggy Pop as being one of his major influences, and The Pistols covered The Stooges' "No Fun". There's also The Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Anti-Flag, Bad Brains, Fugazi - all excellent US Punk bands, don't rate US Punk purely on tripe like Blink 182 or Sum 41.....

Well, sorry mate, but I grew up on Punk, so I've got a pretty good idea of what it's about, Blink and Sum are just guitar pop as far as I'm concerned. Sorry....

 

But if Blink or Sum ever grow up a bit and do their own "American Idiot", I may be willing to re-evaluate my opinion of them, just like I did with Green Day......

 

Sum 41s newest album chuck though shouldn't even be compared with there old stuff like fat lip etc and blink 182, its a total diferent genre of music but i agree its not punk.
