Madonna takes over at number one, by an inch. Outer fringes of the top 40 bring, GOLDFRAPP fighting for a top 30 place. SCOOTER are in the top 40 just! Further down our top 50, JORDIN SPARKS/CHRIS BROWN, FALL OUT BOY.....NELLY and ADELE are on the edge. There are also other entries on download alone for THE FEELING, and JAY SEAN in and around the top 100. No sign of JACK JOHNSON or KEYSHA COLE/MISSY ELLIOT (is that the same song as Brit and Alex????????) What did we come up with 7 years ago, in 2001? On Easter Monday 16th April 2001, to be exact! 01 ne lovin` each day - ronan keating 02 ne survivoor - destiny`s child 03 05 it wasn`t me - shaggy 04 04 what took you so long - emma bunton 05 01 all for you - janet jackson 06 ne get u freak on - missy elliot 07 ne what it feels like for a girl - madonna 08 03 out of reach - gabrielle 09 06 pure and simple - hearsay 10 ne liquid dreams - o town 11 08 clint eastwood - gorillaz 12 07 butterfly - crazy town 13 09 whole again - atomic kitten 14 14 uptown girl - westlife 15 02 let love be your energy - robbie williams 16 ne straight up no bends - brian harvey 17 ne what`s my name - snoop dogg 18 ne give me a reason - corrs 19 13 teenage dirtbag - wheatus 20 15 i`m like a bird - nelly furtado 21 12 bow wow that`s my name - lil` bow wow 22 ne funnybreak - orbital 23 11 run for cover - sugababes 24 21 way you love me - faith hill 25 ne das glchenspiel - schiller 26 25 straight up - chante moore 27 24 suspicious minds - elvis presley 28 26 i wanna be u - chocolate puma 29 17 sal sol nugget - m & s presents girl next door 30 19 how ya like bass - norman bass The gang got 28 in the 30 in 2001, and 10 in the 10, all in the wrong order, and no` 1 and 2 back to front! It seems like only yesterday! And an early hit for Sugababes, that only got to 13, in the Official chart. Singles were selling well, in 2001 with SHAGGY on 941,000 at this point, HEARSAY on 916,000, ATOMIC KITTEN on 790,000. Although in 2008 last week, we had the top 4 singles totally correct! 7 in the 10, and 29 in the 30, again the wrong order for some! It was the late arrival for September, that knock `em out. In the combined album chart last week, 28 in the 30, and CLUBLAND CLASSIX, and NOW 69 were the wrong way around for us! Compilations, and those Various Artists are doing absolutely brilliantly now, even outselling Duffy, Rolling Stones, and R.E.M. I will be back mid-week, for the top 40 without downloads only. Trevs, will hit the deck with the mrib charts on Fri (late). So, chin up and cheers for reading (or in Trevs case, cheers for Reading!) Edited April 14, 200817 yr by davetaylor
April 14, 200817 yr Elliot Minor's album will get MUCH higher than No.28...they have loads of teeny bopper fans and are doing signings all week...No.6-No.15 is a certainty
April 14, 200817 yr Author You think Mariah will be number 2 behind the Kooks? Shops suggest it Ben!
April 14, 200817 yr Author Elliot Minor's album will get MUCH higher than No.28...they have loads of teeny bopper fans and are doing signings all week...No.6-No.15 is a certainty 18 without Compilations dear! :w00t: Thing is if it enters so high as top ten, it won`t stay there long, and will be out sold by the Compilations (with 4 in the top 10, apparently) Edited April 14, 200817 yr by davetaylor
April 14, 200817 yr I think it will be a close call between Madonna and Estelle but Estelle will remain at the top because of the physicals imo. But it's every time interesting to read your predictions. Evening all! From the twosome of Peter Jay, and John McManus, here is the Monday preview of what might happen, in next Sunday`s charts. April 14, 200817 yr Author I think it will be a close call between Madonna and Estelle but Estelle will remain at the top because of the physicals imo. But it's every time interesting to read your predictions. Are these the pre-orders? What the boys do is beef up the sales, for a Sunday prediction of pre-orders (from HMV) if a song is available to download without, a physical release. The albums feature pre-orders too, to push both charts to be ahead of even the following Sunday`s chart. In the case of some entries, such as James last week, who dropped from midweek position of no`6 to no`10 artist album, by Sunday. In that case, if a downfall is foreseen, sales are scoped. The case of Elliot Minor being the same. Last week the boys got Elliot`s single position exactly of no`22! Edited April 14, 200817 yr by davetaylor
April 14, 200817 yr 18 without Compilations dear! :w00t: Thing is if it enters so high as top ten, it won`t stay there long, and will be out sold by the Compilations (with 4 in the top 10, apparently) yep, my mistake :kink: I suppose it could go as low as No.18...I still see low top ten for it, perhaps No.14/15 in the combined chart :P
April 14, 200817 yr Author Thanks Dave for the explanation Also Ben on physicals, Estelle has been beaten to number one, by Mariah recently. So her (Estelle`s) physicals are tailing off now.
April 14, 200817 yr Do someone know if there is a posibility to Mariah to be #1 or #2?? I Though she were going to be #10 or so... xD
April 14, 200817 yr Author Do someone know if there is a posibility to Mariah to be #1 or #2?? I Though she were going to be #10 or so... xD The album will certainly be in the top 2. The single although peaking at no`5 officially yesterday, was number one, on a pure physical sales chart, which didn`t include downloads of course.
April 14, 200817 yr You think Mariah will be number 2 behind the Kooks? I also think so, Ben! Duffy will be Nr. 3 :P
April 14, 200817 yr The single although peaking at no`5 officially yesterday, was number one, on a pure physical sales chart, which didn`t include downloads of course. No, it wasn't. It peaked at Nr.2 on the physical singles chart (behind Estelle)!
April 15, 200817 yr No, it wasn't. It peaked at Nr.2 on the physical singles chart (behind Estelle)! Yes, just checked back the Sales archive. Mariah was second behind Estelle on physicals: Extra sales information from imedias.biz: ... Beautiful week also for Mariah Carey, which offers its larger hit since "We Belong Together" three years ago with "Touch My Body", of which the simultaneous exit into digital and physics the catapult in sixth place. If, as in France, the English charts included only the physical sales, Mariah Carey would be number 2 with 7 252 sales, behind the 7 860 of Estelle. Physical Only Sales: 01 Estelle 7,860 02 Mariah Carey 7,252
