Posted April 18, 200817 yr Hello everyone (well Shameless anyway) - I said I'd post this but I forgot until now ... and besides, Friday seems the best time to post. Its the newsletter from Gary from his own website. Norma Hi everyone Wow it seems like I've been writing this newsletter forever. It's been years since I've had my own website so I'm still getting used to the responsibility. New Website Just a little explanation of why I've decided to even have a website might be a good place to start. I managed to buy the domain name www.garybarlow.com a couple of years ago and have wanted to do something for ages. The site is there for 2 purposes. The first is to have a home for all my music to be. Not only the songs I've written but basically every record I've ever contributed to is up there for everyone to hear. If you click on any of them there's about a 30 second clip you can hear. There's some pretty embarrassing stuff up there so go and have a laugh. The second reason for having this website is for people who want to know more about me than the same 4 questions we get asked in interviews. I wanted the site to take you to the more technical aspect of what I do: Stories behind the making of the music. The instruments that were used. The equipment for recording etc etc. I hope also for people who knew little about myself before logging on to the website come away with the information they were looking for. I'm also aware that record companies check these sites before using you for projects so if parts are a little boring , sorry !!I'm also trying to be careful not to tread on the toes of our other websites, tttv.com etc. That said some of the information in the diary section may be appear later than announcements on the other sites. garybarlow.com was never intended to be an hourly news portal. Now all that's off my chest here we are at the 1st newsletter. Now I don't know what to say !!!!! Joking, of course!! Anyone who knows me will tell you that I never stop. There's always something cooking in my studio or on my laptop. San Remo Publishing I've been putting a lot of time recently into San Remo Publishing. I've dreamed for years of the chance to have a publishing home for talented people with a wish for success. Now it is born. We've 2 signings this year already that I'm so proud of. I will be putting more details of this on the www.sanremomusic.com soon. We've also taken on the management of a new artist under the San Remo umbrella. Again details to follow. I feel like a proud father of the talent we've signed. It's a new thing for me and a very cool way to share my knowledge and experience I've been so lucky to gain over the years. Britannia High I've also been working very closely with ITV and Universal on a new TV series called Britannia High. The show will air at the end of October and there will be an album to accompany the series out before the end of the year. Again I've taken a new role on this project as executive producer. This basically means that everyone else does the hard work and I take the credit !!! As usual I've written a few songs on there too. We have quite a line up of the best song writers in the UK as well as a bunch of fantastic script writers and a beautiful and talented cast !! New Studio I'm in the process of making a new studio at the moment just to add to the chaos. I've spent the last 2 years in a small room at the back of my house and now I want to break out. I haven't had room for my beloved white Piano (if you saw the last TT tour it's the one I play in the middle of the arena) and I miss her too much. Yamaha have also kindly given me a black upright piano to add to my collection. You'll hear it on a record or two soon !!! I'm also about to the be the proud owner of a Meletron. I ordered when I was gigging in Birmingham last November. It's a kind of old fashioned organ !! listen out !! Take That I'm afraid at the moment I have no Take That news. We've all been enjoying a break from each other having basically spent the last 2 years together. More news I'm sure will follow. ..And Finally Last and certainly not least I want to thank you all for reading this, being interested in what I'm doing, listening to my music and basically being the best supporters in the world. I can't tell you how much I love making for you all. As long as you're here I will always try and do that. Thanks again Gary
April 19, 200817 yr Author It is very much a 'factual' site though (no forums, picture galleries, etc) to be honest - its more interesting to someone already in the music industry. But he's given brief accounts of the artists he's worked with. Norma
April 19, 200817 yr Author i like the aspect he has taking with the site That publishing company he's started up would be useful I suppose for someone trying to get a deal (if they're any good of course). Norma
