April 20, 200817 yr I don't see the BAFTAs as particularly significant tbh - and no, I'm not just saying that because Corrie missed out! They really do pick a bizarre selection though... they certainly don't reflect what the general public like, just what a few upper class Telegraph readers think. For me, the National Television Awards are better in the sense that they provide results from the public, and the RTS awards are the most prestigious, if fairly low key.

The BAFTAs look down their noses at soaps anyway! I wanted Emmerdale to get the best soap - it deserved it. The comedy selection was laughable (or not as it were). Norma
