"NEW SINGLE: CARAVAN GIRL – 30th JUNE

Sublime pop magicians Goldfrapp officially announce the arrival of summer with the release of their next single, Caravan Girl, which comes out through Mute on 30th June 2008.

Caravan Girl, a euphoric rush of sun-kissed English summer daydreams, is the latest single to be taken from Goldfrapp’s critically acclaimed new album ‘Seventh Tree’, which went Gold in its first week of release for sales of over 100,000 and is their fastest selling album so far."

Yay! Amazing choice! :D

I would compare how you feel about Happiness as a single choice to how I feel about Caravan Girl

Clowns or Little Bird would have been much better, imo.

OK, so my least favourite track on the album is being released as the 3rd single.

Personally, I would have gone for Cologne Cerrone Houdini.

Obviously the Record Company want to attract back some of the Kylie/Madonna audience who ran away confused & crying when Alison & Will came back with the best single of 2008 so far IMHO with A&E.

I agree, and I think that Cologne Cerrone Houdini (the best track on the album, imo) is too good for a single, as it should be a classic album track.

CCH is an amazing song, only song that I REALLY like off the whole album. The rest of the album's a bit average imo.

Actually no it isn't. The album is quite good. I don't know what I'm on about. :manson:

Awsome choice, its the only particularly comercial one left so its not really suprising news but anyway i hope it will do better than Happiness it should do if it gets the same radio support and the video is better and gets premiered sooner.

It is undeniably by far and away the most commercial choice - and kind of shoots down what Russt and Grimly have said about Alison, Will and the label not caring about the sales, because if that was the case they would've gone with Clowns, certainly, imo.

Cologne Cerrone Houdini, along with A&E, is indeed the best song on the album.

Actually one the best

"Caravan Girl" is a good choice as a single (it's the catchiest song from Seventh Tree).

Let's hope they will release a 4th single...

isnt releasing a 4th single after the album has come out a bit pointless in these days (that is if not totally remixed and featuring a guest spot by estelle???)

In that case, then yes I think 4th singles should be more common - especially if they reflect different styles of songs from an album.

Caravan Girl is the most obvious, artistically bankrupt track on the whole of the album.

As for Goldfrapp giving a toss about chart positions - I suggest you trawl through their back catalogue - you'll be surprised that their most accessible and radio-friendly songs (prior to the bubblegum Supernatuire era, of course)are often the ones that fail to set the charts alight. Surely if the band were truly concerned with top 5 singles, they wouldn't have released a genre u-turn folk track about attempting suicide as their comeback single, and they'd have gone with something pleasant, innoffensive but ultimately bland like Caravan Girl which would probably have gone in higher than the number ten position achieved by A&E....?

In that case, then yes I think 4th singles should be more common - especially if they reflect different styles of songs from an album.

but these days wont those singles just get lost - maybe a few fans who buy everything will get it if on vinyl - but if everyones got the album and radio is still focused on a small range of hits guaranteed the audience loves it will just get lost - so pointless to put the effort in releasing it/promoting it etc etc.

I don't believe anything would have charted higher than A&E; Caravan Girl is single material, but A&E is the only song of lead single quality/potential on the album.

yeah exactly - i think with 'album artists' - anyone apart from a maybe pop act like Girls Aloud etc - the first single will be the most imporatant - whatever it would have been as the album is the most important thing to get out

I think a recent example says otherwise - Rihanna.
