I hade a feeling Kelly would either bomb completly or do really well, thankfully it was the later but not even I was expecting it to finish 4th. Though i guess finishing 4th in a rather weak contest isnt as impressive as coming 4th in last months contest for example.

Hmm...maybe, I guess I like Ida Maria and Alphabeat are alright I guess. I just don't look into European music unless it's released in here, most of the European stuff sent to the BJSC has been alright but it rarely appeals to me. (Isabel Guzman, Maria/Mira and Sibel did though)

Well for now, but Santogold/M.I.A./Robyn/Little Boots are the main ones I like and I cant keep sending them each time. Now I'm leaning towards something I bit different I'll probably have my first flop in a while. :lol:

Ah well, I disagree with what is classed as a flop anyway. For example anything below 13/14 is considered a flop but when you consider that there's 40 odd songs entered. Then really anything that finishes in the top 20 should be a good result since it did better than roughly half the entries. It also gives me an excuse to say that im sucsessful 2/3 of the time instead of the 1/3 that im in most peoples eyes.

 

You do come across some rather forgotten songs at times, i completly randomly remembered Cookie existed when i saw them on youtube.

 

I actually handt listened to the song when i posted that but now i have and i agree with her, it's dreadful, dont send at all.

The thing for me is that I don't really know what's forgotten or not as I didn't listen to music much until recently so what I consider forgotten could be well remembered by everyone else. I like to try and go for something fairly recent anyway.

I don't think you can stand a chance if you will send the artist people already know or the old song that flopped in the UK or anywhere. Well, on the other side, if there's a song that tend to be HUUUUUGE - on matter if it's GA or HEARTSREVOLUTION - it will win, despite it's GA :(

What about Dixie Chicks? Their winning song flopped in the UK. I kinda see what you meant though, apart from Margaret the winners since VII have all been new leaks that could be hits. (Katy Perry, Brandy, La Roux, Agnes, Lenka?, Lily?)

I guess everyone has different methods of finding entries, the most successful one seems to be following blogs and sending the next big thing when it leaks.

I loved Not Ready To Make Nice when it came out, got to No.3 in my chart :wub: I was gutted that it got no promotion, I can't remember how I heard of it though, probably via Buzzjack

I've put together a 'recap' of 5 different versions of the song I'm probably using. I used the same part of each song, I know it's normally better to hear the FULL remix to judge a song but rather than upload each one in it's entirety I made it more complicated for myself and did this. It's just to get a feel of the mixes anyway...

 

 

So yeah, please say which version you like best or rank them all or tell me it's a horrible sounding song and I should start again. It's only two minutes long.

Looks like I'm going to have to use the original anyway as uploading the remixes seems to be impossible. I'm just not as confident in the original as it doesn't seem to be the 'in' thing in the contest at the moment.

 

Yeah, but I've only heard their latest album and apart from "Back In Your Head", which really stood out, I haven't given the rest enough of a chance. It sounded good but I don't think it's particularly instant, thankfully the album is short so it's not a daunting listen.

Quotosibb is loving Mdice as well at the moment. We gave you nothing until X and since then it's been 12-7-5-6-8. I don't think it looks to be stopping this month either.

 

I have to admit I was a bit tactical last month. I would have sent Tegan & Sara but you were one of the people who said you liked it, though you said you liked quite a lot of entries last month which I thought could water down any potential points from you. So I added that to my uncertainty about it as an entry and the fact that two other female duos (that finished top 5 in the end) had been picked and figured I should change to September while I could as it seemed stronger.

 

I might feel better about it this month. The second placed country should be able to have two entries, one in case of pre-qualification, one for the semi finals. :kink:
