Quotosibb Back With Power Power

Quotosibb look to be back on form in the BJSC as M.I.A. scored them their second top 10 finish with the Bollywood-inspired Dance track, 'Jimmy', last night. A fourth place finish becomes Quotosibb's second best result yet, behind their win with Beverley Knight four contests ago. Quotosibb received 146 points which is a personal best for them as Beverley Knight received 114 points for the win when the contest was in it's smaller stages.

 

We caught up with M.I.A. to ask how she felt about the result, "I think this contest is a great way to get my music heard and fourth place is great especially as I was behind Pop and R&B songs, so I was first place in my genre. It was good to see PNAU, The Knife and Camille to finish in the top 10 as well as they had slightly different songs to what is usually expected to succeed in this contest."

 

Next month Quotosibb are said to be keen to change direction again, an insider tells us "Quotosibb have sent Santogold and M.I.A. in the last two contests, both of them share similarities with their musical styles, so we don't want to send another artist similar to them so soon even if it is working for us so far. We would rather change direction and have a mediocre result than become a country that gets criticism for sending similar entries every month."

 

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but we have heard that Disney Channel star Raven-Symoné, Jennifer Hudson, Louise Redknapp and girl group Cherish may have been approached to represent Quotosibb next month.

I've just been listening to Raven's latest album all day and there's a few songs I like on it, but I guess it's probably not right for this contest. -_-

Hmm I guess I need to start thinking again, they were just random ideas anyway, I don't even have any particular songs in mind for them.

The main reason for the direction change is mostly because I don't know of/like any similar artists to Santogold or M.I.A. tbh. :lol: But also because I don't want to start sending the same kinda thing again because I feel there can only be so many times before people think it's repetitive.

 

My first three entries are more representative of my taste but after two of those flopped I thought I should try something different and now I'm kinda stuck as outside of M.I.A. and Santogold there aren't many alternative artists I like. I don't think I'll be going Disney though, I'll just keep my love for that Raven song myself. :lol: I just don't know what to send now, most of what I like doesn't appeal to nearly enough people in this contest.

Go with what you love :D I never expected to do as well as I did with The Knife, so it might surprise you if you do choose something you like!

True, but I really liked Estelle and she finished 24th of 27 and probably only because she prequalified and she was one of my favourite entries so far.

 

I'm downloading another album at the moment that will hopefully have a good enough song on it. It is 10 years old though so I'm not sure if that's a bit too old. I may send my first 'cheap' entry though and send the song that went top 3 from this album as I love that a lot recently. :wub:

Asda FM is fairly good actually, surprisingly respectable for a supermarket radio! I also heard Kids & Dusk Till Dawn during my shift! I made the Quotosibb connection during Jimmy, the other artists coming on straight after made me laugh :heehee:

LOL well it's good to know Asda has taste. :lol:If I was going to pay a supermarket though it would be one I actually use, I don't think Tesco has a radio. -_-

 

Can you remember which songs were before Jimmy and after Greatest Day? Maybe that's a clue to find my next artist. :kink: I seem to be having troubles finding a decent one myself...

I don't recall what was on before Jimmy but Jojo's Too Little Too Late was on after Beverley as I recall attemtping to sing along to it :heehee:

Then I should clearly look for a decent Jojo song to send. :lol:

I'm not familiar with her album tracks but most of her singles are fairly decent :o perhaps it was a sign :kink:

I'm not familiar with Jojo at all to be honest, just 'Too Little Too Late' and 'Leave (Get Out)', I do like those songs though so maybe I'll download some of her albums and check her songs out - after all that's what I've done for my last four entries. Beverley could count as well I guess, but I had owned her album for a couple of months before I entered her while the rest were all recent purchases/downloads.

 

I don't know how Jojo would do though, I think she sounds alright but to me she seems like a typical bottom half of the board artist. -_-
