my views on Helena before I go on to Julieta as I already know Helena's songs:

The Light In Our Soul is very nice, would probably get 4-6 points from me...but nothing outstanding so points would get lower with more good songs coming along

To Fili Tiz Zois was ok...again nothing outstanding in the grand scheme of Helena's career...

Teardrops is by far the best of the three tracks...I wouldn't give it 12 points though as there are better songs that have been confirmed already...

Thanks for the opinions guys. Keep them coming!

I'll have the final 8 songs announced in the next couple of days probably.

My two favourites of all of the songs are:

Helena Paparizou - The Light In Our Soul and Pandora - When I'm Over You. I'm not sure if they would be the best choices overall though as other people seem to differ with their opinions.

The Light In Our Soul would be ineligible as it was entered in the Greek 2006 NF was it not? :P

You know what? I think a part of me entered it because I was waiting for that comment from you Tyron :P

But no. It was originally meant to be entered in the Greek 2005 national final, but it turned out it had already been recorded in Greek by somebody, so it was disqualified.

It's a blurry line I know, but technically it has never been in Eurovision, or any Eurovision-related national final. :)

Send Teardrops, you're pretty much guaranteed the ten or 12 from Bhangra! The other Helena songs are good, but not as good as Teardrops, and I'll have a listen to some of your others later Peter. :D

HbTV has confirmed that Within Temptation will be entering "Angels" in the Herzefest final, and Helena Paparizou will be sending "Teardrops."

Within Temptation - Angels

Helena Paparizou - Teardrops

Tori Amos, Pandora and Julieta Venegas are still undecided. And remember, any of the songs from the other artists could still make it to the national final as the wildcard entry!

Here are the songs from the remaining artists that are as yet undecided.

Tori Amos

Silent All These Years

Pandora

Julieta Venegas

Me Voy

Lento

Limon Y Sal

Opinions on the songs from these three artists in particular would be very much appreciated! But if you have strong feelings about any of the remaining songs you think should be the wildcard entry in the final, I would like to hear it as well.

Thanks for all the thoughts so far.

I've just realised that I will be away from Wednesday until after confirmation has closed, so I will have to have brought this to a conclusion by Tuesday night!

If anybody has any opinions on any of the songs by Tori Amos, Pandora and Julieta Venegas, I would be glad to hear them!

All finalist will hopefully be revealed by tomorrow night :)

OK then, after much deliberation, here are the 8 songs in the national final of Herzefest, in competition to be the 4th Herzebanian entry to the Buzzjack Song Contest!! Links to the videos are included so have a look and tell me what you think :D

1.

2. Tori Amos - Silent All These Years

3.

4. Becky Baeling - I'm Gonna Fly

5.

6. Helena Paparizou - Teardrops

7. Julieta Venegas - Limon Y Sal

8.

Opinions wanted please!!

By Tuesday night we will have a winner :)

my top 3 in order from your finalists are:

1. Tori Amos - Silent All These Years  (I assume you would pick up a ton of points from the respectable music lovers on here; Martin, Rabbitfurcoat, Slick, Jester, thisispop, myself, David??? as opposed to the pure pop lovers)

2. Pandora - Don't Worry - I really like this, very catchy and Carola-ish

3. Helena Paparizou - Teardrops - very good track, would be accessible to all I believe, and Helena did very well in one of the other contests for Kopecka

Thanks for that Rich.

I think I'll have the field narrowed down to 4 tonight, but everybody keep letting me know what you think.

Especially if you happen to be one of those people who Rich just mentioned in that post ;)

Now i've never heard any of these songs before and I've got a top 3.

1. Tori Amos - Silent all these years - From the first piano chord I could tell this was a great song, I definitely think that this is the best choice and could result in a top ten finish. I just love the tune.

2. Helena Paparizou - Teardrops - I liked this song, it was pretty catchy and will probably make the final if you enter it, but I don't think it would make the same impression

3. Tori Amos - Bouncing off Clouds - A bit of a random song, nice and pretty relaxing, I definitley think you should send one of the Tori Amos songs, but preferably Silent All These Years.

Good Luck :D

Thanks :)

Well I've pretty much discarded 5-6 of the songs, and I'm down to about 2-3 in my head.

Keep the opinions coming, they are a great help!!

I would love to see Tori in over Helena, seeing as she's been in it before...

this thread Peter, inspired me to dig out my Tori Amos greatest hits album and put it on my iPod, just to listen to Silent All These Years in its high quality glory

HERZEFEST SUPER-FINAL

OK guys this is it! 24 hours until the Herzebanian entry is chosen, and as with the best of Eurovision national finals, Herzefest is ending with a head to head between the two most popular songs.

There will be a winner by tomorrow night, but right now, even I don't know which one it will be!

If you're just calling into the thread, leave a very brief comment as to which you prefer, or more detailed thoughts if you feel like it. It's a close call between the two, so have a look and I will take everything that is said on board.

The final two songs are:

Tori Amos - Silent All These Years

AND

Helena Paparizou - Teardrops

Have a look and let me know what you think. I will have finally made up my mind by tomorrow night!!

Tori or Helena?

Edited by Peter30

you know which one I'd prefer to see win...although both are fantastic tracks
Teardrops by far. That Tori Amos song does little for me, and I reckon you have a potential winner on your hands with Helena. :D
