Okay everybody thank you for the comments....

I have played the songs to a few people outside of the Contest and bearing their opinions and yours in mind I am now leaning towards one song, but I'll give it a little while more....

I've also thought of an ingenious way of selecting Herzebania's next entry :D

Teardrops is love. But she's obv miming in that video :heehee:

Which means you get the full benefit of the studio version, but still get to see her performing as opposed to just a montage of photographs

HERZEFEST WINNER

It has been incredibly close, but Herzebania has finally decided upon its 4th entry for the Buzzjack Song Contest.

And the winner is.......

 oh well, one thing's for sure, you won't miss the final again with Helena

Tori's the sort of song that would either catch on and go all the way unexpectedly (a la Beverley Knight) or appeal to few and fall out at the semi-finals so I can see why you didn't pick it, it would have been a big risk

Helena doesn't have the potential to win I don't think as its a slightly weaker track than the track Kopecka came 10th with in BJSC5 (though they would have come 4th if they'd voted) but I can see it being an easy top 10 finish for Herzebania :D

To be honest, I would have entered Silent All These Years if I hadn't been scarred by the Laura Stevenson experience. Personally I prefer it to Teardrops. But then again, Jeanette has been my least favourite of all my entries so far and she gave me my best result.

Maybe in the future.

I knew that either one would be a strong song, as people had been highly complimentary of both, but in all honesty it was David that finally persuaded me to use Helena. It was the first time in the whole selection that anybody had used the phrase "potential winner."

I could be completely wrong and finish 18th in the semi-final, but I think that for this time around at least, I've made the right choice.

David had Thermostatic's Driving as 2nd favourite in his odds thread at one point and it trailed in 19th for FSR Rontvia, so don't trust the Bhangrese :smoke:

Nobody enters a song that they want to fail, we all think that our songs could be potential winners or we wouldn't enter them in the first place. Trust me though, the reward is so much sweeter when the risk pays off. Fair enough, Thermostatic flopped but Untouched was a huge risk for me and I was hugely pleased when it finished top five...next time I will definitely be sending a male act, just for a change, and that will be a massive risk, as we all know that Buzzjack dislikes male acts

BuzzJack doesn't DISLIKE male acts, it just doesn't like as many of them :heehee: Patrick Wolf would do well I reckon, and that's why he's in contention a few contests down the line for me ^_^

And yes, never trust the Bhangrese :smoke: And IMO Teardrops is a potential winner, but a MUCH more likely top 10 ^_^ I've only missed the mark completely once or twice for potential winners (i.e. not coming at least top 5/10), and that was Jordin Sparks - Freeze  I know I've had others but none come to mind immediately (ah yes, Supergirl ), so be confident! :w00t:

Since Beverley Knight I haven't entered any of my songs thinking I would be a winner. That's not to say I thought Beverley would win, I just thought it was a really good song that should go down well. Since my first entry I've been aiming for top 10, but missed both times. (and probably will again) Maybe I should aim for a win and I might end up in the top 10. The trouble with that is that I can't think of any entries worthy of a win, it's quite difficult to find them - you never know what will go down well.

always aim for the win  there are always entries that are almost certain winners...I got to Love Song first and Mdice got to I Kissed A Girl first...somebody else would have definitely entered those songs though and won with them no doubt...

I suppose a good way of finding a guaranteed top ten finisher would be to look at current No.1 singles across the world...because if they are good enough to get to No.1 somewhere then you have to assume that they will be good enough to do well in this contest.

Or look in previous years, which has given me one of my favourite BJSC entries ever: Tata Young - I Believe

Just a minute too long to be a Eurovision classic :(

I still don't quite get the love for Tata Young...it sounds like something that would crash out at the semi-final stages of Melodifestivalen to me...

it's good but very dated sounding, the sort of thing that would have done well in Eurovision in 1999...

then again, that didn't stop Hero being one of my 3 best song of the year

I gave it no points...although it came close to 1 point from FSR Rontvia...Marie Picasso has a much larger chance of pointage :D

The Bhangrese are to be trusted and I stand by what I said regarding 'Teardrops' - a potential winner I say!!! :smoke: Thermostatic should've done a lot better for Rontvia, as should Annie for Priceville last time, but the BuzzJackers apparently disagreed. :drama:

To be honest I don't think either of the songs were potential winners. I never see songs I enter as potential winners, but I think Helena is more likely to do well than Tori Amos.

I hope to enter Silent All These Years in the future, but as I have been employing an "in it to win it" attitude this time around, then I think Teardrops is the more logical entry for me this month.

I was shocked at the low scoring going Annie's way when the results were coming to FSR Rontvia's voting headquarters :o I think I gave the song 7 points

Herzebanians are delighted with Helena Paparizou beating their personal best, and are going for a different angle in BJSC 10.

No national final, no long drawn out selection, this is the entry.

It is Gigi D'Alessio with "Non Mollare Mai."

A song in Italian, by a male artist, which is hardly contemporary, but it has a wonderful melody and tune, and some really nice moments in it. Even if you don't like this kind of thing, if you're a sucker for a key-change, this one will get your attention. :P

I should explain that after finishing top ten with Helena, I'm not looking for a good result for Herzebania this time around, and the 10th Contest is more of an experiment, to see if a song that is the complete opposite of what usually does well at the Contest, can be carried into the final based on a beautiful song alone.

It didn't work for Paolo in Eurovision....can it work here? Can the music truly speak for itself? This is the Contest where I aim to find out!!

And so here it is. And give opinions. Even if it gets nothing but negative reviews, I'm sticking to my guns and entering this: Non Mollare Mai by Gigi D'Alessio. Enjoy :)

my view on the song then:

sublime

very very nice melody, love it! Unfortunately, I can't see it making it out of the semi-final for 2 reasons

1) a few people have admitted that they won't vote for foreign songs

2) it's a male artist

but if you make my semi-final, I will definitely give it points, if you don't then you might need a miracle :(

Glad you like the song :)

Wow....now this looks like it could be my ultimate challenge.....I'm visualising a campaign for votes like no other country has ever done before (apart from Spain in ESC 1968).

to convince the voters on here to vote for that will be a mountain to climb, so good luck with that!

if you come top ten with that in the final, I promise I will send a foreign language song in BJSC11 :o
