I dont know if any else has got any of DMG TV's 100 Hits albums that you can pick up for about £6 - they have done decades from the 60s to the 2000s, and Rock, Disco, Pop and Country ones but i think they should do a 100 Hits indie compilation - so what would you like to see on it??

However to try and get it as close to what will probs be on a real DMG compilation the tracks have to be by acts signed to the following record groups Sony BMG and Warners as well as labels like Gut, Big Life, Telstar, Skint, Echo, Stiff and Demon as well. You cannot use anyone signed to an EMI or Universal label or anyone truely indie tho you can have anything by the Farm!!. thats the rules as that who they would license the tracks from!!

so can you get 100 great tracks to use

(note: for Sony BMG you can have any of these = Nude, Creation, Kitchenware, Silvertone, Indolent, Rhythm King as they seem to own most of their recordings)

the first ten tracks are all Sony BMG and are from the 'indie cool' cd - just add good tracks to make 10 into 100 - just cut and paste the tracks below and add some good stuff

100 HIts Indie - CD1

1. Primitives - Crash (Lazy - RCA/Sony BMG)

2. Suede - The Drowners (Nude / Sony BMG)

3. The Wannadies - You and Me Song (MNW - Indolent / Sony BMG)

4. Kula Shaker - Govinda (Columbia / Sony BMG)

5. Slepper - Inbetweener (Indolent / Sony BMG)

6. Reef - Place Your Hands (Epic / Sony BMG)

7. Pop Will Eat Itself - Get The Girl! Kill The Baddies! (RCA / Sony BMG)

8. Wedding Present - Dalliance (RCA / Sony BMG)

9. Senseless Things - Hold It Down (Epic / Sony BMG)

10. Ned's Atomic Dustbin - Stuck (Furtive / Sony BMG)

Ah, you bought the Independent today, eh? I wondered what that CD was all about as I didn't think anyone in this day would put Neds or the Thingies on a CD - but now I see.

Wouldn't think there's any more from Indolent records out there.

Creation gives you hundreds of great songs, too many to list here.

Silvertone - well they milked the Stone Roses dry and, I guess, you could stick Whiteout's 'No Time' on there, even though it's aged atrociously.

Kitchenware - some Fatima Mansions yeah? Then some early Editors I suppose.

Bit of a weird thread this...

well not weird - trainspottery is more apt  - and it fits in with this mentality against major labels and in keeping with the real 100 hits you can buy in the shop (posted elsewhere) as if you were trying to licence these tracks for real - the combined list up to now includes these:

but which Primitives? the one on the independent's indie cool CD is one from the 1980s - there is another Primitives that was one of Lou Reed's really early bands - the band that (Siouxsie and The Banshees/adam ant punk guitarist) Marco Pironi's Wolfmen are said to be remixing.

Crash was covered by Matt Willis a few years ago - on the soundtrack of Mr Bean's holiday.

however dont even think DMG TV would try and put a Matt Willis track on their indie compilation
