April 8, 200817 yr It doesn't sound like the right move from the reports from the first preview. They may of course just be the simplest they could make quickly and be added again later when the more difficult task of revamping Act 1 is completed. The important question is "How much of D's role have they cut?"
April 8, 200817 yr Author The first half is shorter - they've put some of it in the second half. I wont add anything to the reviews as there are 4 people who saw it for the first time and it'd be good to see what they had to say. I didn't stay to speak to them and I still ended up running for the train. I got home just before 1am.
April 8, 200817 yr Author Paul was staying in London, so waited at the stage door. I think it highly likely that he'd have got some pics. I'm hoping so. If, for any reason, he didn't, I'll try for a pre Paul O'Grady show. I'm not going anywhere near the theatre as it's just too tempting. I got a really cheap seat and was very happy with the view. I know what a lot of their backs and sides look like but, it was a very good view.
April 8, 200817 yr Author We did manage a Bonnie last night. It seems that they aren't allowed to have a child actor in the theatre after 10:30. It must have been unsettling for any of the cast who have spent weeks learning there parts to have to come to grips with the changed ones or just lose part completely. The first part is still slower but, better than it was. Unfortunately, the second half now starts a bit slower and has less Rhett in it. One American lady was in raptures over the show. I think it's just us being hyper critical because it's so important to us.
April 8, 200817 yr They did take some Darius bits out. However it's great if Americans enjoy the show because the book and film are so revered over there. Edited April 8, 200817 yr by Baytree
April 8, 200817 yr I suppose its a story about Scarlett - even though I would prefer Rhetts story..they always say an actor should leave an audience wanting more...oh well
April 8, 200817 yr http://images.broadwayworld.com/upload/26744/tn-500_gone1.jpg I think looking as he does in this Rhett picture, I could see Darius in many, many period roles, with or without facial hair.
April 9, 200817 yr I think that picture is fantastic. The look in he eyes makes me think he could play Johnny Depp type period roles. Come on then think of another period role for him. oF course the main role is unperiod, james bond. I think that picture has a bit of thelook of errol flynn, remember him.
April 9, 200817 yr oh yes, reading the Telegraph interview where it says he has the feel of someone from a different era - I have always felt that, he is just so classy and gentlemanly, old fashioned - which people read as cheesy - which is why our society is going down hill btw!!! when I saw the gwtw poster one with Scarlett, I thought of Mr Darcey because of the shirt, and with his hair cut I can see him fitting lots of roles, espeically period ones. Movie Idol jsut fits those looks. Edited April 9, 200817 yr by prettyinpink
April 9, 200817 yr good though, usually people look worse in real life! I never get over the way he is so much better in the flesh - I think they cant capture that aura he has in a photo, nor the intenstity of those eyes
April 9, 200817 yr I still like him as him. Why does he look so much better in real life? I can't really explain wwhat I mean but I'll try. I think there's a luminosity about him. Is it because of his flawless complexion or does it come from within?
April 9, 200817 yr adding the new pictures here - http://usera.imagecave.com/livetwice/mammyscarlett.jpg http://usera.imagecave.com/livetwice/rhett1.jpg http://usera.imagecave.com/livetwice/rhettash.jpg http://usera.imagecave.com/livetwice/rhettscarash.jpg
