Good to see Jason "Spaceman" Pierce back actually... I've missed his blissed-out, soulful sonic experimentations.....

Just out of curiosity though, were you ever a fan of Spacemen 3 at all....? Great bamd.... Shame that Pete "Sonic Boom " Kember just seemed to fade into obscurity after that one rather excellent "Spectrum" album.....

Sonic Boom is still working away - nothing to touch Spectrum though, that's true.

Love Spacemen 3 especially 'Playing with Fire' (who doesn't love that?) and, surprisingly, 'Recurring' which I suppose was basically half a Spectrum and half a Spiritualized LP since they recorded separately.

As for the new Spiritualized album, I'm disappointed so far. It's unmistakably Jason but not up to his usual standard. Maybe some more listens are required!

I initially felt the same way about "Let It Come Down", but it did eventually grab me after a while, so you probs should give it time....

My fave Spirtualized albums are always gonna be "Lazer Guided Melodies" and "Ladies and Gentlemen We are Floating in Space" though.....

Heh heh, I don't think anyone would disagree with those choices.

Funnily enough 'Let it Come Down' grabbed me instantly...but I haven't listened to it in years.

One of the best gigs I ever went to was Spiritualised at the Liverpool Krazy House in 92. Blissful.

Big City off recurring is one of my faves from Spacemen 3 as well as the awesome Revolution which along with late period Loop, My Bloody Valentine and Daydream Nation formed the backbone of my soundtrack during the late 80s.

WOW!!! So I'm not the only person in the world who's heard of Loop then....? They were a fukkin' awesome band.... "Fade Out" and "A Gilded Eternity" were utterly amazing records... I saw 'em play a gig in Glasgow circa 1989.... Totally blew my 17-year old mind!!!!!

Here's a test for ya - you heard any Main (Rob Hampson's follow up project) or Hair and Skin Trading Company (what a couple of the other ex-Loop blokes did) stuff....? Rob also did stuff with the absolutely stonking Godflesh as well...

Hey! I've heard of Loop - not finding it that easy to get into them though, despite being a fan of the Spacemen, MBV, Slowdive etc. Again, I was a wee bit young to catch them at the time.

I saw Loop at Reading festival in 1989(?) Not really suited to outdoors though. Sound got a bit lost.

Haven't heard Main tho I kept meaning to get their records. I am sure I saw Hair and Skin Trading Co as well tho they didn't impress me that much otherwise I would remember better!

I think the thing they did that had the most in influence on me was their cover of Mother Sky they did which then got me into Can along with the J&MC cover of Mushroom Morning.
