Posted April 30, 200817 yr Lots of different artists could fit into this category, and maybe some I have included might be pushing it a bit, but they all came out around the same time 71-74. 1. T Rex - Metal Guru.....Marc Bolan at the height of his fame, he was certainly the king (or queen) of glam  po2jnpS2WzU 2. David Bowie - Jean Genie........One of my favourite singers of all time, could have picked a dozen songs, but plumped for this one qA29BVtCCpM 3. Chicory Tip - Son of my father.........Brief career in the spotlight, but this got to number 1. 4. Glitter Band - Angel Face.....Without their leader, the backing band had a few hits on their own, this was their best 5. Mud - Crazy.....On the fringes of glam, but very popular in the early 70's 6. Suzi Quatro - Can the can......She did like her leather :) 7SXWgC0SLCA 7. Roxy Music - Virginia Plain...........Great track from mister smoothie Bryan Ferry and the way out Eno. 8. Slade - Coz I luv you...............Ooh I like a bit of Slade 9. Alvin Stardust - My Coo-ca-choo....Black gloved leather clad singer who kick started his career after Shane Fenton :D 10. Sweet - Ballroom Blitz....They did like to glam it up, didn't they  Are you ready Steve, Andy, Mick  ZrBDivsSe3k 11. Wizzard - See my baby jive.....Roy Wood certainly played his part in the early 70's 12. Mott the Hoople - Roll away the stone....I liked Ian Hunter's vocals on their early stuff, this one's my favourite 9oBYWgMNLIc
April 30, 200817 yr Great album, Brian. I can't fault any of your track choices! Get out those platform shoes
May 1, 200817 yr lol.. i thought about starting the 'my album of' threads with glam, but id be hard pushed to find 12 that i actually like.... and you brian have probably chosen all the ones i would have!, deffo slade, t rex, mott, wizzard...
May 1, 200817 yr Fantastic Album Brian, I love all those Tunes, wow haven't heard some of them in a while though.
May 1, 200817 yr Great album! I'd buy that if it wasn't for just two songs! You'll have to guess which ones! Norma
May 2, 200817 yr Ohhhhhhhhh Glam...... ......................Alright fellas lets goooooo! I LOVE Sweet!
May 3, 200817 yr A good compilation, but there is one obvious artist omitted........ for rather obvious non music reasons.
May 3, 200817 yr Brian Johnson's original group pre AC/DC called Geordie is my fave Glam Rock group, would been good to see a song of theirs in there but good album Brian :)
May 3, 200817 yr Author A good compilation, but there is one obvious artist omitted........ for rather obvious non music reasons. I have absolutely no idea who you mean ;)
May 4, 200817 yr he he.... difficult one this really..... historically he was the king of glam, possibly (thinking fast) the only glam rocker to have a 'glam' element to his name. in some ways i think hes been treated badly... not that he shouldnt , but other sex offenders have not had half the flack this bloke has... was j kings exploits any the less onerous? or pete townsends? tbh i would include him in a compilation, because historically he was huge in the glam scene.

Yeah I gotta agree with that, while he is clearly a very unpleasant man this album is about musical achievements and whatever he has done as a man he has still achieved a lot in music so leaving him off the list on moral grounds defeats the object of this thread Chuck Berry inserted hidden cameras in toilets of his bar/hotel he owned so he could view women showering and using the toilet but leaving him off any virtual rock n roll album would be ridiculous same as Jerry Lee Lewis marrying an under age girl, while morally wrong the behaviour of Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis they are rock n roll icons same as Glitter is in MUSICAL terms a glam rock icon Leaving Glitter off the list should mean that the likes of R Kelly, Michael Jackson, Bill Wyman (had a relationship with a then under age Mandy Smith) should be excluded from any lists

I did think about listing him, but on balance didn't want to take any flak from his detractors due to his more recent escapades. <_< However I did give a mention to his backing band, who to their credit have critisied him in recent years. If I had put him in it would have been Rock And Roll Part 2. However to be honest I never really liked him then either. :)
May 5, 200817 yr i wasnt a fan of gg either, but then again i didnt like glam... Not even Slade? Noddy had the best rock voice ever! Norma
May 6, 200817 yr Not even Slade? Noddy had the best rock voice ever! Norma oh i have no probs with noddys vocal talents, in general though i didnt like the effeminate clown look that glam had, my roots are firmly in the more serious 60's. slade were good but in general not quite my cuppa... if i had (like most of my contemporaries) got into music as a teen (and not as a boy) then slade would have been my favs. i rate slades tracks higher now then i did then and 'cos i luv you' is one of the best post 60's pre punk tracks ever.imho.
May 6, 200817 yr I think the Townsend situation was different from what I could see. He never had any images on his computer and basically took rap due to some very bad advice. Jonathan King doesn't arise because nobody listened to his records anyway. Glitter is a despicable human being which has resulted in me being unable to listen to his music. (which I loved before all the sex offences came to light)
May 6, 200817 yr Not even Slade? Noddy had the best rock voice ever! Norma Nope but his girlfriend does and you have inspired me to play it in the car for him to listen to lol! Sweet too cos he hates them more than Slade lol.

(which I loved before all the sex offences came to light) I never liked his music anyways so makes no difference to me but if you can't buy Glitter records would you still listed if you were a fan ?? to : Chuck Berry (paid millions to women to avoid court action as a peeping tom who spied on women showering and using the toilet) Michael Jackson (paid millions to Jordi Chandler's parents) Foundations (one of the lead members convicted of similar offences to Glitter) Rolling Stones (Bill Wyman had a relationship with underage Mandy Smith) Bay City Rollers (one of their lead members convicted of child sex offences) Jerry Lee Lewis (married an under age girl) R Kelly (Arrested for sex offences) All those people are despicable but it would be hypocritical to say ban Glitter from a glam rock album then go home and put on a Michael Jackson album would be hypocritical
