They really were out of tune. Irrespective of whether it was their first TV performance they will have practiced this song hundreds of times, sang it on tour etc. I'd be willing to accept a slightly below-par rendition but that was well below 'slightly below-par'; it was terrible.

It's a shame when someone's blinded by love for a group/band etc that they can't see the quite obvious faults in front of them...

spot on. :)

HAHA this is sooo stupid! They were hardly out of tune, jeese. Im gonna give up but once again i will say for their FIRST, LIVE, TV, performance i think they did well.

Mushy, you say this songs average but have you heard their others? 'Set Me Off' is available as a free d/l from the site and is amazing, so i have high hopes for other tracks. Plus 'Up' and 'Issues' are also fantastic songs.

m8... they were MILES out of tune, frankie was the worst.

nope i havnt yet heard their other material, id be happy for them to be a success, but realistically on this showing, with this style, and their inability to perform live credibly i fear theyll not succeed.

Tbh, from what I've seen of Frankie so far she does seem really Victoria Beckham esque  Frankie is my least favourite -_-

You're basing the fact they cant sing live on ONE (their first) performance on tv? They CAN sing live, i've seen them twice.

Check out the link i posted earlier, 'Issues' and they are fantastic.

but theres no difference between performing live for a crowd at a gig and tv... after doing it countless times supporting girls aloud todays performance should have been a piece of p***... fact...they failed.

ok, ive viewed a few vids on youtube 'issues' and that performance and song is much better then the song and especially the performance on t4.

Its so much more intense for tv, so much smaller and to the point. Their first time with all the camera's - they were bound not to have done as well as on tour.
Ok, whatever you say! You are just over-acting the whole situation by using flamboyant words and feeding off other people who also think it was terrible.

Ask any music critic, it wasnt TERRIBLE ... far from.

1) I am not acting rather stating my opinion.

2) I am not using 'flamboyant' words, rather constructing a diligent and cohesive argument. I'm thinking about what I'm saying

3) Nah, I watched and gained my own opinion. I don't need/let other people influence me. What sort of a mindset would that be?

As for the music critic comment, well...:/

I'm not going to be a continual negative aura in this thread but if something is awful then I'll say as much.

I just watched it again and thought they did fantastic, esp. for their first live tv performance. Ok, some people thought it was bad and some didn - lets leave it at that.

Really disappointed by this, it's an ok pop song but it heavily samples one of my all-time favourite 80s song - Yazoo "Situation".

Is that why you're dissapointed? Many songs sample others, i think it uses the riff and stuff really well and is one of the best pop songs to come from this year so far.
At least it manages to use the sample to make a good song, unlike that god-awful Yazoo tat.

id like you to say that to russt68!!!

I know lots of songs sample others, I like a lot of records that sample others - Sugababes sampling Tubeway Army's Are Friends Electric for their version of Freak Like Me is a great example of it. It's just a personal thing really cos that original song is such a classic for me.

Maybe it'll open up Yazoo's music to more people though? They were pioneers of pop music in the 80s, and a lot of bands at the moment wouldn't be around if it wasn't for them.

I do however agree that it was admirable of them to actually perform live on TV - lots more bands could take a leaf out of their book. I'd rather hear a live performance than watch someone miming (like they did a lot in the 80s notably).
