I basically gave my opinion and you thrown a hissy fit at it so im obviously going to reply.

The thread's here for people to discuss the song and say if they think the songs a piece of $h!t or not

but what your saying is we cant do that, we all have to love it.

Its a song, and your right i am wasting my time on people like you, bye.

Initially, I wasn't even replying to what you were saying.

You just wanted to jump on the bandwagon with the oldies.

So don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Once young indeed, and still a moron.

You've absolutely just said that by liking a new group and their single, we are asking for an argument. Absolute ridicule, and surely a sign that there's no need for you to be in this topic...we can't post a bloody positive comment without getting shot down, for god's sake!

nope...ive said all along that 'bigging then up' is where we, the sceptics, can have our say! if you read what ive said previously youll see that ive said 'like them if you want, but dont pretend they are anything other then what they are'...

us old buggers have seen it all before, over hyped, pretencious, wannabes, all sold and swallowed by the young, as the next 'big thing'.

im not saying that you arent entitled to a view, but to take onboard the citicism leveled at them. we just might be right you know!

if your comment gets shot down, it must have been a poor post m8 :) a strong post cannot be 'shot down' :)

tbh russ, thats abit harsh... you were young once ... remember? or has altzheimers got you?

no - just the puddle-shallow dullard responses from kids on BJ whose musical knowledge would leave ample room when written on the back of a postage stamp would surely wind anyone with a modicum of intelligence to lose their rag. In fact, I thought I was being far too tame on him/her.

The difference in when I was a young pop fan is I appreciated and understood the music that came before - I was intrigued and interested and eager to learn about it - there's no way on earth I'd have dismissed something because it wasn't number one this week or because it hadn't been on a Simon Cowell show..... to have made comments like this member has about the original of this song deserves a far harsher response - I thought I was being tame.

Of course, I'll ignore Jerk's pithy, flappy-armed little response - it seems everybody else ignores him these days ;)

I hope this act become successful anyway as they show real promise. 'If This Is Love' may not be groundbreakingly amazing, but I believe they'll have a lot better material up their sleeve and I look forward to that, especially if 'Set Me Off' is anything to go by.

... maybe conor has an open mind and is capeable of understanding what us oldies are saying...

ive certainly disagreed with conor before, so i dont think hes doing it to be 'in' with the oldies !

i dont think ive ever seen 4 'big guns' (or should that be 'old guns') lol, unanimously condemn an act like this .... that must tell you something.

whilst i understand, and agree to a degree with what you are saying, you wont get them to listen by insulting them!

we should be setting an example and encouraging others to think, though its bloody hard!

That is frankly such a pathetic response, you really are just chucking all your toys out the pram with that one dude.... Conor isn't really in the business of trying to curry favour with the "oldies" or whatever... He's EXPRESSING AN OPINION..... Your attitude towards him is frankly sh!tty, childish, dismissive and totally insecure..... If you ask me, YOU'RE the one that should "exit" the debate, not Conor....

Seriously, this is getting sooo boring! :drama: Everyone has given their opinions and made their points, nothing else needs to be said.

I really love the single, but im not naive enough to think they're this amazing talent ;) Of course they are manufactured, but then again so are Girls Aloud and look where they are today. Manufactured is not necessarily a bad thing imo, the only time it is bad is when the artist starts believing they are anything more than that. Girls Aloud have been manufactured from day 1 and know that they are looks/good songs and decent voices, not no amazing song writers or producers.

Anyways, back on topic. I would say the 2nd single is more important than the first tbh. The way the promotion and everything is going I would say it's gonna go Top 10- about no.6. But the 2nd single REALLY needs to go Top 5 and be a decent hit for the album to do anything.

but it SHOULDNT be boring!... its about music, it should be interesting to listen and understand other peoples views... that is healthy! :)

But we've heard everyones views  all it is now is petty arguing. Everyone has stated their opinions and now it's just people disagreeing with other peoples opinions. Nothing's progressing, the same thing is being stated time and time again.

The thing is that what you believe The Saturdays to be is clearly NOT how Peyton feels, and to dismiss his opinion is unfair. Seriously though, where is this going? I come in this thread to discuss the Saturdays and get the latest news about their launch - instead there's page after page of ranting about how manufactured and talentless and blahh blahh, whatever - if you think that, then fine, but repeating it over and over is just needless. You're stopping people from discussing a group they are passionate about.

Dude, this aint a Saturdays Love-In Forum... If you want that sort of thing, then lobby for an AF for them... This is the "General Discussion" part of BJ, where having an actual OPINION is a good thing.... Whether positive or negative... Russ' post defining what a "Forum" actually is is spot on.... I wont go as far as Russ did however and ridicule you for not likeing Alison Moyet, I mean, fair enough, I completely dont agree with your assessment of her though, she is a supremely talented artist, and The Saturdays have made a bit of rod for their own back by sampling this track tbh....

...Oh mind you, probably it wasn't even their idea in the first place.... Their middle-aged PRODUCERS probably thought that this would be "cool" or whatever cos it's a song the they like... So, a bit strange that you young uns slag off us "oldies" on this forum when it's a bunch of old gits who are clearly shaping the careers of these young pop starlets.... Isn't this the sort of thing that "youthful" voices should be kicking against...? Where the fukk is the spirit of youthful rebellion in today's Popular music....? It's pretty much bloody nowhere if you ask me, and this is pretty bloody depressing .... I grew up with Punk, Goth, Metal, Rap (as in Public Enemy, Ice T and NWA...) and Rave, real sh!t-stirring stuff which scared the living cr@p out of the older generation..... The only thing that's scaring me about Popular music nowadays is the sheer fukkin MEDIOCRITY of it all.....

well tbh i agree .... but the saturdays are likely to get flack from oldies unless they come up with something undisputably good...

but they wont, and by crimbo theyll be history.

Well tbh I agree  they won't last past one album. The single will do ok, 2nd will be released. Album will get to twenty something and sink without a trace, and then dropped.

Obviously I would love for them to be successful but the industry has changed a lot and it's harder for pop acts to be successful nowadays. There's no CD: UK or TOTP to promote on, everything is down to radio tbh. Makes or breaks a song. It's so hard for a new girlband or boyband to make it now, and you'll notice the only ones still doing well are the ones who were formed when pop was at it's peak.

and that is it in a nutshell... theres no hope for british music after nearly 50 years if old buggers of my age are force feeding you young buggers confetti so they can earn your money off you.

like i said earlier... im glad im old enough to have lived through the 60's, glam. prog rock, punk. new wave, ska, new romantic.. etc..etc ..etc..etc . this kind of manufactured c**p is killing inovation, youth expression, voice.. lordy, heres me, a old bloke encouraging the young to rebel! .. strewth it was totally oposite in my day!

Did you even bother to read the posts before the one I posted in response to Conor?

I was replying in a way that the post I was replying to was put across. "I'm not wasting my time on you so bye".

I had never once quoted or referred to any of Conor's posts, so for him to come in from nowhere and reply to my post claiming that I had spoken to him is just silly.

Leading me to believe that he was, in fact, just jumping on the bandwagon.

I agree that the last line was childish but, again, if you read half the posts in here, you'll find that the respected "elders" have a much worse attitude than myself.

Take criticising my signature for example. If you can, please explain to me how this is not all of the things that you expressed my post to Conor to be?

The irony of that is probably gonna be lost on most of the people on this Forum mate.....

Can't agree more though.... It really is coming to something where now we have this awful Middle-of-the-road consensus almost between the old gits like Cowell who produce this sort of cr@p, and the younger generation lapping it up unquestioningly.... It's weird that it's us older music fans in the main who are rejecting Cowell, Walsh and the likes.....

I'm glad that I grew up in the 80s mate, with the likes of Post-Punk, Goth, Rave, Industrial, Electro, New Romantic, etc.....

If you can, please explain to me how this is not all of the things that you expressed my post to Conor to be?

I dont defend some of the stuff that Russ says at times, he can be an aggressive poster, but he's passionate, and I've had my share of arguments with him myself; but at the end of the day, I take it with a pinch of salt, I reckon, like myself and Rob, Russ' bark is a lot worse than his bite and he's just an old softie at heart.... It's easy to let the 'edit' function slip on a forum like this.....

Dear god this is boring hearing the same old replies about how The Saturdays are manufactured, talentless, boring - whatever. Fair enough you feel like that but you shouldn't make other members feel like that they shouldn't be able to enjoy it, and once you've made your point you should just leave it, I don't mind that you feel like that but going on and on about it in a topic that is for fans to discuss their single is quite annoying. Theres certain bands I don't like but I either make my point then leave it or just don't bother replying cause I don't see what the point would be in it at all.

Now please stop the petty arguing and going on about how you dislike The Saturdays, you've made it pretty damn clear that you don't. We think we get the message. It's beyond boring reading it now.

if you read half the posts in here, you'll find that the respected "elders" have a much worse attitude than myself.

I've yet to read a post on this thread with worse attitude than your own, poppet. Apart from Jerk, of course, but that goes without saying.

This really is just arguing now, it's no longer a debate, some of you hate it, some of you love it, some of you just like it... and none are you are EVER going to agree, so please all of you, stop saying the same thing =[
