But that's just it - 2 TV performances. Out of the tens that'll be coming in the next few months. It's too early to decide they're going to fail for sure (or succeed).

And I don't think anybody in this thread should be called 'mental' for expressing an opinion...

You have to admitt their vocal skills are nothing brillant though, and the 2 TV performances were quite bad (nothing brillant too)

Sorry but for someone who loves GA you can't really say much! They mimed nearly all there performances for years! And if you go and look at their first live performances as a band and compare them to now, theres a big difference! they have improved with time and so will The Saturdays if they're still together.

I don't get why everyone is picking on Coolnav for no reason. He likes them and wants them to do well, whats wrong with that?

And as for you Mushy about the leave a negative post. Well leave a f***ing positive one!

When I came on here and remembered about the radio 1 playlist, I knew I would come here and find pages of negative things  if they had been A-listed you would of brought up the money issue :drama: and if they stuck at the B-list, it's not looking good! :arrr:

f***ing hell, get out some more!

I think the real thing that they should be worried about is coinciding the physical and download release on the same date. That has seriously harmed the chart positions of acts before and is a foolish strategy, downloads never peak in their first week.

That will mean the first midweek reading will probably give a rather dire position, and on the Sunday it won't have got a position as high as it could have. :(

I think you should take your own advice here then, too.

You let someone post a positive comment and leave it.

Don't you think it's a tad hypocritical to single him out for being positive about the band when every post that comes from you is negative?

You post just as much as him with negativity as he does with positivity.

not so... just look back over the last few pages

No-one is dis-agreeing with the fact that they're manufactured. I just stand up for the fact that they ARE talented and COULD have a long career with the promise they show. Some people just dont seem to get that though.

i wish you would LISTEN.... read kellys post again and youll see where im comming from.

Mushy, you're living in some kind of freakaloid delusional dreamworld if you think SC8 were in any way shape or form good. They're everything you've identifed as being wrong with the Saturdays, except 204353x worse.

thats a matter of opinion... 'one step closer', 'new direction', 'fool no more', 'sundown' were all much better pop songs (although could have been performed better by grown ups!) thyen anything ive yet to hear from the shyte-adays. IF the shyte-adays first three records all reach #2 then they will have EQUALED scj's chart run... i cannot see this happening, nor will they sell as much...

Ahhh this thread brings back SO many memories for me.

I think Rob will remember the good ol' days when I first registered on CC and argued with him tooth and nail about how great S Club 7 and Rachel Stevens were etc, etc. Rob told me time and time again that they puppets, unoriginal, throwaway pop and nothing special whatsoever - to which I argued against repeatedly.

However, in retrospect (God help me for saying this...) Rob was right. S Club 7 were just a high scale cash cow, used to shift units and make money for the label - nothing more, nothing less. Same goes for Rachel Stevens, as much as I enjoyed the music of both S Club 7 and Rachel they were nothing but puppets and I actually agree with Rob that The Saturdays are exactly the same. Unit shifters, disposable and i'm doubtful they will last long. However, I hope i'm wrong with that because I do think they show a bit of promise, they could actually produce something good.

As for the song, it's pretty mediocre in comparison to a lot of other stuff out there at the moment but I do quite like it. I don't love it by any means but it's just harmless pop music. I wish them every success in the world, but a long-lasting career isn't going to happen in my opinion.

lol.. hi kelz... indeed... i remember it well and things havnt changed. :)

i really dont care if the shyte-adays are big or not, its blind faith believing that they are summut they clearly arnt that i counter.. their tallent is mediocre as is their music, they might yet produce summut good but im not so sure.

i must admit though that i dont think they are that bad, just not 'good'.

I think the real thing that they should be worried about is coinciding the physical and download release on the same date. That has seriously harmed the chart positions of acts before and is a foolish strategy, downloads never peak in their first week.

if the song's popular enough it won't matter...loads of songs have had a simultaneous release and gone top 5 straight away

Yeah, they would of been very nervous. Shame they didnt give it a go though, but as said before hardly any new acts do so they're not alone. Great dance routine, people cant deny that they've improved on that since NGR. Anyway, promo is better than no promo.

Just waiting for the hate posts!!!

Yeah, it's hard to sing out of tune when you mime

Why did they mime though? Generally acts do live on Loose Women...

They are awful mime's  especially the blonde one. She stopped singing before the word has finished :|

But, I do like the song, and they look beautiful together, so I'm sure they'll do well for some amount of time.

PLZ NOTEZ: this isn't a 'hate post', as it's my first in the topic, and today on LW was the first time I've seen The Saturdays :D

I do wish they had sung live - this could be Rachel Stevens all over again. Come & Get It was an AMAZING pop album IMO, but because she mimed every promo performance of Negotiate With Love, I Said Never Again and So Good, no-one took it seriously, and it underperformed hugely. A pop gem lost forever!! If these girls' album is as good as C&GI was, I'd like to hear it, and hope more people do. But obviously they can sing live if they did it ever night on tour - so do it now girls!

The difference is that GA have performed live for weeks and weeks on Popstars before getting into the band, so people kind of knew what they were able to do or not.

And the point is not to know if GA were better or not at the beginning (and they deff were anyway because they released SOUND OF THE UNDERGROUND as first single lol), but some people are raving about their vocal abilities when actually we have no proof of it since they did one live TV performance (and that was not good lol) and two mimed TV performances.
