It IS that you don't understand it! Jesus, the comment was saying that the Supernature era attracted a Kylie-esque audience - teens, young pop fans -

Last time I checked, The Brixton Academy doesn't allow anyone under the age of 18 admittance without a parent/guardian as it is a LICENSED PREMISES......  There were NO "teeny" boppers at the gig I was at... The ones making nuisances of themselves were clearly in their mid-20s (and at that age you really should have a pretty well-rounded musical knowledge)..... Actually, a bunch of teenagers with mum and dad might have been a bit better behaved (as with the kids at the Slipknot/Slayer gig) than the lot of band-wagon jumping a-holes me and my mates had to suffer because they wouldn't be able to get pished and make arses of themselves and annoy the hell out of us real fans, or indeed Alison herself......

lol... EIGTH!!!

ok i was in spain, so sorry if im repeting anything, but 8th place, BEHIND the awful 5 week run of 'basshunter', ne-yo, jordin sparkes, and even below kate perry (who had all but fcuk all promo) is DIRE.

the message has been sent out... only die hard saturdays fans like them..

i predict that this thread will be the longest thread on bj about an act that never made it.

Yep, spot on Rob... It's almost Tragi-Comical seeing these Saturdays fans try to put a positive spin on such abject failure.... "Oh, but it only slipped FOUR places to No12 in the midweeks, it's not that bad....."....ROFLMAO......

The Saturdays have had MASSIVE media exposure and have headlined a GAY night at the Astoria in the West End... Katy Perry by contrast has an upcoming low-key gig in the rather small Scala in Kings Cross FFS......

Hope you had fun in Spain by the way..... :)

Im rather stuck in the middle with this, it isnt the disaster some are making it out to be but it isnt that great either, its an average chart posistion and the songs will probably have an average chart run if you ask me. #8 really isnt that bad but i'll except that some of the songs above it had been in the chart for months, plus all the promo they did and the money thrown at them. But i certainly wasnt expecting them to go any higher than 8.
I really think #8 is fine, they got top 10 with the debut single. The one which really matters will be the single which launches the album, they will need to get that into the top 5 or thereabouts.

#8 IS a disaster (and where i predicted in the where will it chart thread) because of the exposure, hype, promo they recieved.

#13 !!! PMSL.... theres 11 tracks in the chart that have been around longer and most without the hype... THATS why it IS a disaster... acceptable without any hype, but after supporting girls aloud, tv, papers, 400k ... their bosses must be worried...VERY worried about their investment. looks like bad business to me and a tax write off.

Whoa, I cant believe this is on its 47th page. To frow my 2p in, I don't care much for the song myself. The sample isn't used as well as it could be. Its not a patch On Yazoo's "situation". Or like I said in the early pages, Heidi Montag's "Body Language"

And the song charting at number 8 does meen its "underperforming". All the hype and exposure they were getting. We were basically being tol they were the new Girls Aloud.

Totally dude.... When you look at all the hype, the marketing, the investment put into The Saturdays... I severely doubt The Spice Girls, Girls Aloud, All Saints, Sugababes, etc started out with anything LIKE that sort of investment put into them, and ALL of them enjoyed considerably greater success in an environment of Britpop/Guitar bands such as Blur, Oasis, Stereophonic, Manics, etc, than #8 and then falling to #13 a week later....

Just to put things into perspective here folks - the All Saints' comeback was considered an abject failure, but they managed to score a Top 3 single with their comeback single.... So, er, still want to put a positive spin on this....?

Yeah, I can just imagine Duncan Bannatyne.... "Girls, do I LOOK stupid...?"....ROFLMAO....

8 is pretty awful. People who are trying to say its OK are being a bit daft in all honesty :(

Considering the whole hype, the money ploughed into the project its a complete sham. The next single will struggle to reach Top 30 and the album will push Top 40 at best.

I knew from the minute i seen a PICTURE of The Saturdays this wasnt going to work. That was without even hearing their debut single. For Girl bands to be successful there has to be something more than the music.

The members of The Saturdays just have absolutely NOTHING about them, not very interesting at all and don't stand out in any way whatsoever. The image, their voices and style its just all very $h!te if i'm honest.

Take a look at nearly every other successful Girlband. The Spice Girls for example, you had five ordinary girls, all of which had a persona/personality. They certainly werent the best looking girls and didn't have the best voices. But their image and personality was f***ing spot on. If they had just released the songs without having the personality and image behind them, i doubt they would have got very far..

The Saturdays are bland and don't stand out whatsoever. I hope the single and album flop, then they can go back to Asda or something. Oh wait... maybe Marks + Spencer or Waitrose, something a bit more classy, they are MINI celebs afterall.

What song does it sample? I swear the instrumental belongs to a Heidi Montag song

For what must be the 1000th time this question has been answered, this song samples "Situation" by Yazoo.

Yes, this Heidi woman has also sampled the song - as a few other people have entered this thread asking. The original is by Yazoo though. Be thankful this is me answering you, I don't know how the people who have answered this before would react to another "Iz this a Heidi Montag sample?!!?!1".

Yazoo's 'Situation', like I've said nobody knows or cares who Heidi Montag is, especially to sample a song of hers.

But anyway, I think they can easily launch their album with a better single and promote it as well and get into the top 5 if they try, as the single that the album is actually released off the back of is the most important. Of course that doesn't guarantee longevity or anything, but the money that's been spent on them will cover the entire project so they're going to push the next single and album's release just as hard, if not harder.

Issues i think would be a brilliant second single, not sure if its strong enought to help launch the album though.

Frankly, they'll be lucky if the album does much better than the All Saints comeback record....
