And some people in this topic need to stop being so negative, fair enough you don't like them or the song but theres no need to go on about it. It's embarrasing to read.

........ ffs <_< , dont you understand the concept of debate?, what a fukkin booorrring miserable place bj would be if everyone sat around agreeing with eachother and posting trite one-liners. debating issues are what makes great forums great.

interestingly all the detractors seem to be older people...lol.. maybe thats telling us something here. :)

Yeah us youngsters have taste.. :P

Yes theres debate but then theres going on and on and making the same point over and over again. Quite frankly it's rather cringeworthy.
Too right. You've said what you have to say, and nobody can even be arsed contesting it...but you just keep on repeating it! Boring. You could actually go somewhere and post about music you actually like.

.... so you can repete yourselves but 'us old buggers' cant <_< .

again, you are missing the point of debate.... or maybe it was a bad idea to let kids on here! bloody attention span of a goldfish

i used the term m8 to try to 'soften' the tone of my post towards you.

of course they were thrown together... lord almighty, what do you imagine they are? credible artistes who are musically gifted who met in a bar or somewhere as romantic, discussed musical views and decided to make music together in order to 'get a message across'?

they are manufactured, chosen, created, by management in order to make money. nothing more, nothing less. 'working with producers'?.. you mean a bunch of old men directing them on how to look/sound?

they are a PRODUCT, ffs even rachel stevens added more to the 'rachel stevens product' (her name  the saturdays (awful name) have not even done that!!! )

like i said earlier, if you like the product, fair do's, but stop crediting them as being anything more then what they are. puppets.

I completely agree with you on this.

They could of at least had a half decent memorable debut single which was memorable but have failed to do so.

Im surprised so much of an effort is being put into them tbh, its not like Fascination can force people to like an average forgettable pop song which

is never original or edgy.

It seems a bit unfair really how lots of decent artists/groups fail to get success despite producing great songs due to lack of promotion from useless record companies yet this group come along and get tons of promotion.

Half of these manufactured pop groups/singers don't even like half the songs they get thrown at them, so its just another money making scam imo.

Im not saying the song is horrid or anything though, ive heard much worse but its definately not good enough for a debut single.

However influential Yazoo may have been, Alison Moyet has an absolutely dreadful voice. It really is FOUL.

 :D :D Jark - as insightful and knowledgeable as ever.

Idiot.

Yes she was.

I think the song is much better than the Yazoo track by far (and whilst were on the topic of that why at 00.48 does Alison Moyet suddenly change the key of the song without any of the backing changing with her, the same at 01.16 and many more occasions? - it sounds awful) and has much better vocals. 'If This Is Love' is actually a hard song to sing and i think the girls have really unique and strong voices - with the Frankies being the worst out of the lot.

All i can say is we.will.see...

The most unintentionally hilarious post I've read on Buzzjack.

Ever.

Official.

The frickin' Saturdays beter than one of the most influential dance records EVER made? You've the musical knowledge of a babboon, mate.

Yazoo need to go somewhere else now, because this thread is for The Saturdays.

err..the whole 'appeal' of the abysmal Saturdays single - and what it's being sold on on the press releases IS the Yazoo sample - so, err... mentioning Yazoo IS kinda relevant, don't you think?

The saturday's song isn't the best song ever made, but it's quite catchy after a few listens, i don't see the need for so much hate against it  More pop is needed at the moment before it fully dies.. We've only got 2 successful girl groups left, the suga's had one successful single off their last album and that was it quite frankly, and girls aloud, sold less than they should have, album wise, considering how well 2 of the singles performed chart run wise... we need more girl groups and we need more pop music, but i doubt we are gonna get any of this that is also successful anytime soon.... however what we don't need is more boybands... they may stay dead LOL

I think a new boyband for the UK could potentially be quite a good thing.

US5 are a pretty good boyband though only release songs in Europe i think.

Theres also some other new boybands such as Varsity, Menudo, V-Factory etc which all have some pretty decent songs.

I agree about the lack of bubblegum pop though, theres plenty in Europe but the UK is rather dull in comparison.

I like US5, But i think they are a little 'too' cheesy for the UK, Maria flopped here, so i don't really want them to try again tbh I suppose it'd be nice to see a boyband that wouldn't just look cheesy and make rubbish song, if they could give a sort of cool factor, that isn't just trying to dress or act like a black american rapper, then it might work?

Sweden still make good pop music, and pop/dance music eg september.. maybe we should look to them for pop inspiration!

Indeed 'Maria' was rather dire but 'Round & Round' was electro-pop at its best.

Sweden, Denmark & Germany are all excellent for pop music with plenty of decent new artists/groups all the time but the UK seems to like

everything but pure pop unfortunately.

I totally agree. But on the evidence of that poor debut single it is not The Saturdays.

We have the Pipettes in the background, who should make a commercial bigtime breakthrough with their more commercial sounding 2nd album in 2009.

Whilst a group I have been following, who've supported Babyshambles & Dirty Pretty Things, whom are being courted by major record labels right now....... I would love to see them get signed and become huge.

The SheBeats - Off Switch

But hey who needs a REAL (old school The GoGos, Bangles) POP BAND who only play their own instruments & write their own material & do live festival gigs so they can't be as talented as a manufacted put together over hyped Girlgroup can they?

Why the hell are all the "oldies" posting all of these videos that aren't of The Saturdays?!!?!

I'm not sure anyone, but you and the other two negative arses, actually care about all the facts and figures and polls and articles and blah.

This thread is about The Saturdays. Not who they're "ripping off", not who you think should be more famous than them... The Saturdays.

Now I know this thread isn't about liking The Saturdays, but is it really worth your time and effort to continuously put them down?

I'm sure someone said it before, but can't you waste your time talking about a band or artist you like?

This has been said about 3 million times already but if we dont like them, you cant make us.

Im only 16, i love great cheesy bubblegum pop music and The Saturdays are certainly not great.

I feel it's unfair how such a bland song with NO orginally (it samples Heidi Montag 'Body Language', a dire song by Paris Hilton wannabe)

can get such promotion and backing (hype) whilst much better songs which have been written by the artists themselves fail to see the light of day.

Of course its not about the music nowadays though anyway.

Id happily say good things about them if they'd launched with a song which was original, not sampled and generally a great pop song but it really sounds

like a leftover Sugababes B-Side.

hey, halfwit, you're on a public MESSAGEBOARD - a forum...perhaps you need a description of what a forum is?

fo·rum (fôrm, fr-)

n. pl. fo·rums also fo·ra (fôr, fr)

1.

a. The public square or marketplace of an ancient Roman city that was the assembly place for judicial activity and public business.

b. A public meeting place for open discussion.

c. A medium of open discussion or voicing of ideas, such as a newspaper or a radio or television program.

2. A public meeting or presentation involving a discussion usually among experts and often including audience participation.

3. A court of law; a tribunal.

To try to denigrate someone's opinion because of their age is ludicrous - pop fans can be any age whatsoever.... and wasn't pure pop created by our generation anyway? Fool....

Whatever your age, anyone with even half a brain would realise The Saturdays (who surely employ Stevie Wonder as a stylist) are GODAWFUL. The single is appalling and if I were Vince Clarke (you know, the guy who wrote the riff this trash is based around), I'd be suing the wobbly asses off of them.
