oh lord.... some still dont get it... it aint about dissing them per se, its about having the mental capacity to either debate a point intelligently, or take criticism on the chin in an adult manner!

id suggest you use this oportunity to learn how to debate, and that 'being right' isnt always what its about, but indulging in the dynamics of debate... look and learn whats going on here because it aint just about a bunch of old miseries entertaining themselves.

and jark... scott is spot on, experience has taught us that these 'confetti' groups are MOST likely to fail... how many fall by the wayside for every 'sugababes' or 'girls aloud'?.. in a limited market THATS who the saturdays are up against, THEY are their rivals for the fans/money.

now i really couldnt give a flying fuk weather or not the saturdays (again, CR@P name) will make it big or not, but discussing the merits of this (or any) new act should be interesting for anyone mature enough and with a passion for music . :)

I completely agree. That's what people aren't getting. It shouldn't be about trying to win a debate.

I personally don't agree with most of what the "older people" are saying. But should they not be allowed to say it just because I don't agree or find the opinion boring?

I mean idk I always enjoy hearing opposite opinions because it makes me evaluate how how strongly I believe mine. Like if you really like The Saturdays, thats great. But you should be able to not only understand that others don't but imo be able to disagree without losing respect.

Now back to the Saturdays... I'm kind of stuck on how I feel about them. I really wanna like them but it's like they're missing something. I hope they release a really strong second single with some attitude. ITIL doesn't have that it factor that a debut single should have. The album cover is pretty though.

:yahoo:

at last! someone who understands!

Matt, it's from the girls' Myspace. It's official as far as I can see...

Rob, I'm 16, nearly 17! Not that age should matter. Russ, you really are a foul, bitter old queen. Can't you just go somewhere, quietly curl up, and significantly reduce your input? Would be most appreciated.

Shakilover... You are officially in my Cool Book.... Finally, someone who gets the point....

Same for Rabbitfurcoat..... Correct, it is not a "Love-In" Forum.....

its shyte! :P

Completely..... Given the choice, even though it aint my thing, if I had to choose, I'd choose to listen to something by Sugababes or GA anyday.... They actually have something about them and they manage to cross-over and grab some of the Indie and Dance music fans as well, hence their success, The Saturdays totally fail to achieve this quality and will therefore fail to achieve any success other than very shortlived; or indeed longevity.. I give them one album with modest sales, then, they'll be gone....

Using a sample from a better song to hide your musical shortcomings (especially in a DEBUT single... I mean, come on, isn't a DEBUT supposed to be about establishing YOURSELF as an act or artist...? Did the Spice Girls use an obvious sample in "Wannabe"...? Nope.) is NEVER cool in my book....

But the Spice Girls, GA and Sugababes all established themselves in a time when being a group on the pop music scene wasn't an actual struggle...now the market is near-dead and anyone launching needs a real talking point if they're going to be any sort of success - why not go with a sample which will get people talking? Thankfully I've heard many opinions which differ from yours that the sample is lazy and uninspired and the song is rubbish, so they may have a chance, or so I think.

nah m8, the spice girl were brand new at it. there wasnt any other 'girly' act doing pop... it was all moody britpop and post grunge. im not a fan of the spicies... but they did do a sterling job taking on a 'blokes' world and they sold themselves perfectly for pop. they took the gamble and won.

scott...to be fair i think 'issues' is a much better song and if they can perform it live, credibly' then they might become big... as i see it its all down to precise marketing and the ficklness of the music buying public.

As Mushy just said the Spice Girls started off where the charts were pretty much dominated by the whole Brit Pop scene. Oasis and Blur etc... The only Girlband to be around before them in the 90's was Eternal and they were more RnB. Comparing The Saturdays to the Spice Girls is frankly an insult imo. When The Saturdays sell 30 Million plus albums in the space of two years, they may be able to be compared :P

Anyway as for the song, it really is dreadful :( I predict/hope this will be a Top 20 hit and then they can fall off the face of the earth and be forgot.

why not go with a sample which will get people talking?

Because it IS lazy and unispired... Even more so than the legions of generic, indie-boy haircut bands out there that jump on the bandwagon..... When you sample a better song on your debut for no particular creative reason, you're just saying "we have not on iota of originality and we have nothing to say for ourselves....". BOOOOOOORRRRRRINNNNNGGGGG!!!!

And Rob is right, it was a lot more difficult for the Spice Girls back then during the height of 'Britpop' than it is for this lot, all the groundwork's been done for them....

If I listen to a particular type of music, personally, I'll go for the acts who actually define(d) (or indeed, re-define..) it well, not a set of bandwagon-jumping chancers with few ideas....

I didn't compare the singles or anything :/ But it's a fair comparison to say that they are both girl groups starting out (and both were manufactured). And nobody will ever sell 30 million albums in two years in this day and age, even if they are the biggest stars in the music industry.

And it's true that the Spice Girls were the only girly pop group in a male-group-dominated industry, but still there was a market for groups; these days, GA and Sugababes excepted (and McFly too, I suppose) the market for groups really is non-existant, so my point still stands.

Anyway, for those who haven't heard it, Set Me Off, a free download from the girls' website. It's a pretty good track and I hope it'll make the album...

And again for those who are doubting the girls' abilities, check out

, and like Rob, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Set Me Off sounds good, i also hope it makes the album.

Is it known when If This Is Love is realesead on i-tunes?

According to Radio 1's playlist, it's download-able from July 28th (my birthday!). That was the date for the physical though, so either the download and CD come out on the same day or the physical has been put back a week...
debate is good when 2 healthy points are being made that actually go somewhere. thats not whats happening here so is quite annoying/frustrating for some people -_-
Of course, I'll ignore Jerk's pithy, flappy-armed little response - it seems everybody else ignores him these days ;)

I so eagerly await the day you find an alternate insult to 'flappy-armed'. It will be a glorious moment to see that you actually have some sort of intelligence. Then again, you must be quite intelligent to have found methods to avoid being the butt of every joke all your life (though I'd like to think you are that anyway - you certainly are on here).
