OK, with regards to this topic, I have had two sets of complaints today. I've had someone complain that they're unwilling to discuss or participate the topic as they didn't want to get 'shot down' by some posters, and another from someone who was insulted by another member's posts.

As various jibes have been dished out from both parties, I'm going to go about this in the fairest way I see possible and not dish out any raises in warning to either parties. I think this is an issue which some of you will need to resolve over PM instead of this topic in all honesty... if that is at all possible.

I'll be keeping my eye on this topic closely from now, and if anyone steps out of line I will raise warning levels, no matter who it is.

Now please play nicely people!

Can I just say... I'm all for a debate, but half of that wasn't a debate.

It was basically non-fans p***ing the fans off by putting The Saturdays down.

The band haven't even released ONE single, so how can anyone feel so strongly about disliking them?

I just feel like the people who argued The Saturdays were bad were doing it basically to cure boredom.

A lot of the arguments weren't even related to the band... "what music was like when I grew up", "this unsigned band", "that under-rated act".

While I understand that this is a forum and you're free to like or dislike whatever you want to, please can we keep the negativity to where it is needed.

i.e not -post- "So, the single..."-reply- "It's $h!te". Totally unneeded.

On that note. I apologise if I have said anything in here that has offended anyone.

It was intended, but I do apologise for it :P

but after all that we have put, fully explaining why we are saying what we do...YOU still 'dont get it'.. <_< . no wonder we keep repeting ourselves.

this is not a saturdays love in, why dont you actually listen to whats been put :). it aint abot 'winning' or 'losing', its about DEBATING a topic, which isnt what some here understand.

Well now who's posting negatively for the sheer sake of it? There's no debate to be had there, we all now that for it to miss the top 10 would be poor indeed.

... oh come on m8.... that isnt posting negetively for the sake of it.

these have been created over the past several months and have had huge investment pushed their way. they are being promoted like buggery, loads of money promotng them. anything less then top ten (with what is generally agreed ISNT their best track), IS a disaster!

if they fail the top ten, then a second release would be in doubt, if that fails top ten too, they are sunk.

now this post isnt 'saturday fan spoiler' , its a realistic opinion of someone who has seen this all before, many times. my doubts over the saturdays success may be ill founded, they might be big, but I DONT CARE wether or not im right or wrong... because im debating a point, and am not getting personally involved.

How about I put in a complaint about people who post cr@p like "People who argued the Saturdays are bad are doing it just to cure boredom..." (I mean, doesn't everybody do that to a certain degree on BJ anyway, we do this stuff in our free time FFS, it's not as if it's our careers or life and death or anything, it's a hobby, hobbies are there, in effect, to cure boredom surely.....) or go around saying that us "oldies" are "beyond boring".... I mean, I could get all precious about being referred to as a "boring oldie", but I dont do I...? Unlike certain individuals I can take that sort of thing on the chin....

The facts are, this group chose to rip off a track from OUR generation of Pop music (the 80s), so, like we aint expected to be allowed to comment on that...? Or to have an opinion on the questionable "worth" of this group...? Modern music aint just for the 16 year olds..... And has oft been repeated, this AINT an Artist Forum, so as far as I'm concerned I can say what I damn well like about a particular group....

In fact, that's my complaint, the implication by some that somehow we all have to be positive or 'happy-smiley' and not actually be able to debate points fully on what is a General Music Forum...

if they fail the top ten, then a second release would be in doubt, if that fails top ten too, they are sunk.

Yeah, I mean, that's just stating a fact innit.... This is how the "muzak biz" is nowadays.... Look at what happened to All Saints... And one can argue that the quality of their material outstrips The Saturdays easily..... Their formidable past rep and the huge investement put into their comeback did NOT count for sh!t, if they'd been on a label like Mute or an Indie label, different story.... So if a label can jettison a group like All Saints without even blinking.....Well, you get the point.....

Sadly, Grimly, you're very right with that last point. Although Parlophone made some big mistakes with the Studio 1 project, it had so much potential and the fans had to sit and watch whilst it was p!ssed down the drain. :( Still, the Saturdays are with an altogether more capable label in the form of Polydor/Fascination, so hopefully they'll be okay.

I do take point with a previous comment about the Saturdays existing solely to make money rather than as a passion - yes, they're manufactured and were obviously done so to make the label a large lump of cash, but I don't think they are five passive bints who just do whatever. Una (the lead vocalist) was signed to Polydor previously as an indie-pop guitar singer-songwriter, and I'm pretty sure that she at least will have input and ensure they have their own sound or at least their say in the process of putting an album together...

For what it's worth I agree, I'm all for a good debate. I'd just rather people went about it without resorting to insults, jibes or sly digs. (Which you haven't done as far as I can tell, so no worries).

. I've had someone complain that they're unwilling to discuss or participate the topic as they didn't want to get 'shot down' by some posters, and another from someone who was insulted by another member's posts.

sorry.... but if they are not mature enough to accept other people have a contrary position on an artist then they have, then wtf are they doing on an internet FORUM?

everybody has a right to an opinion, true, and theres no need for some of the personal jibes that have been made, but if you have an opinion then surely you can support the view? plus IT ISNT PERSONAL. if anyone says the saturdays are dire, thats the saturdays they are 'dissing' not the poster.

scott was spot on.

I echo what Aly said...more than one person has complained therefore, some posts have been deemed offensive. So just tone it down a bit :D

if anyone says the saturdays are dire, thats the saturdays they are 'dissing' not the poster.

as hard as it is to comprehend, some people like an artist so much that any type of insult made can result in the fan feeling that it is a personal dig at them...I'm not one of those people myself...I'm a big fan of Delta Goodrem for example but I couldn't care less if someone says they don't like here or call her awful. It's not like I know her personally, so it really doesn't bother me

your attitude is spot on!

that's why all the 'artist forums' are so boring, anyone with a different opinion is told to leave the forum as they are basically places of worship  I only use artist forums to find out release info about some of those artists, if I want a debate I go to chc -_-

Yeah I'm the same, each to their own!

Jesus, looking through this thread it looks like The Bitches - If This Is Cat Fights.

ANYWHO, Ive been seeing the video quite a bit on The Hits and TMF. I predict top 20. The top 10 is pretty stiff atm.

So can we now just keep this thread to what The Saturdays are upto promo and chart-wise? I seem to have to wade through pages and pages of cat fights before i can find anything of actual interest to a fan like the release date and cover.

Does anyone know of any up-coming promo?

Not that I can find...I assume it'll all be announced within the next week or two though.

Also Radio 1 announce their new playlist tomorrow; ITIL really needs to have made it up to the B-list...

Alison Moyet, Vince Clarke, Una Healy, Vanessa White, Rochelle Wiseman, Mollie King, Frankie Sandford

Those are the writers of 'If This Is Love' ... im so happy the girls have been involved and now cant be branded talentless as both their vocals are amazing and they have contributed to the writing of the single.

i dont think they are talentless, just not highly talented. i dont think theres anything special about them, and maybe an opinion from someone neutral is more realistic then one of a 'fan'.

as for 'fans only' comments on this thread.... no. theres an official saturdays thread in the s club forum for those with blind faith, this is a public FORUM which was set up so people could voice opinions .
