I hadn't read the arts mag, so put it to one side and Pam read it and found this.

Rhett got better reviews than Scarlett. One or two couldn't resist a dikd but, most recognised that he was a considerable talent.

Different paper but - 3 small pics in the ads of The London Paper. The red dress and burning Atlanta and the ones of jill and Darius which appear in the bill boards.

That's the ad I'd have liked from the earliest promotion, minus the quotes of course.

I think Darius and Jill are joint-stars, as were Leigh and Gable. For me, it is their exchanges on stage which really make the atmosphere crackle.

That's not the best quote for Darius's overall performance in GWTW IMHO because people could read it as referring to just his singing.

No it's not the best quote.....we had this elsewhere....

I quite like.....

diabolically dashing Darius Danesh brings a seductively insolent charm, a dark velvet voice
from the Independent

....how that paper could give such conflicting reviews :( I know they are different critics but.....

There are many positive quotes more encompassing about Darius in this role. Our review thread is full of them.

However I think it's an honest ad and most people will find Jill's performance compelling. I did, especially in the last part of GWTW.

Well, I am but, the part of Rhett is scene stealing - and it's not just us who've noticed that. Maybe Scarlett is on stage so much it doesn't have the impact..
I'm sure that has something to do with it. You can feel the warmth of the audience every time Darius comes back on.

The first act Rhett is a supercharged BF or SM but the second act is the real eye opener. That's when I realised quite how amazing Darius's progress as an actor has been since I saw him last, less than a year ago in Edinburgh. I'm not sure if that is because of his training and Sir Trevor Nunn's direction or because the part is much more challenging and gives him more chance to show more of his range as an actor or both.

I'd like to see a DVD of GWTW because I'm curious to know if that stage presence would transmit as screen presence.

The first half sets the scene. Rhett's first song shows him as someone seen as a hero and then the honest account sung to Scarlett. Most things in the first half are necessary for the second half to work,
